---Why I Bought This---

I cannot function until I have had some breakfast cereal and a cup of tea to get me going.
During the colder winter months (and still now in May!) I enjoy cereal with hot milk. I cannot be bothered to make porridge first thing in the morning but I like having wheat biscuits or shredded wheat as a filling start to the day as they are quick to prepare.

Made in England by Weetabix Ltd - manufactured since the 1930s.



---The Product---

Weetabix comes in different size boxes but I bought the box of 24 biscuits.
The cardboard box has an image of sunny skies and golden wheat - as well as Union Jack flags on mine for the Jubilee - the front of the box has 'WEETABIX - FUEL BRITANNIA'.
100% wholegrain, slow release, high in fibre and low in fat and sugar.
Made form wheat 'sourced within 50 miles of our mills' and 'celebrating 80 years'.
Whole wheat cereal with added vitamins and iron.
There is a free game to download to your ipod or iphone - 'wheetakid'.
Suitable for vegetarians.

Contains wheat and barley.
The box contains two packets of twelve biscuits each wrapped in white plasticy paper.
The biscuits are oval flat compressed biscuits of cereal.
A typical serving is two biscuits.

---My Opinion---

I usually buy the Tesco Wheat Biscuits, but lately online they have been out of stock so I have 'upgraded' to Weetabix. I eat my biscuits with a little sugar and hot milk - though I know a lot of people use cold milk or yoghurt. I find two biscuits quite sufficient.
Weetabix are an old well established firm and you get good quality biscuits. They are very dry and flaky and absord the milk quickly to go quite 'mushy'.
Personally I do not find any real difference between the Tesco or the Weetabix brands. The Tesco I buy because it is cheaper but I will happily buy the Weetabix when it is on offer.
I stick the the origial Weetabix as I do not fancy any of the newer versions such as chocolate or golden syrup.
Weetabix is a healthy cereal to start the day with and a good source of fibre. It is not too expensive, is easy to prepare and is convenient.
If stored in a cool place away from odours it has a long shelf life (mine has a year) so is great to keep in your store cupboard.
