Nortel Nautica Clam 824 ... backbone over Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Frame Relay, or digital leased line services.

CLAM routers provide solutions for a wide range of network needs and environments. Each CLAM is equipped with an Ethernet interface and is available with synchronous, asynchronous, and/or ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) Wide Area Network (WAN) interfaces. CLAM routers are also available for environments using Internet Protocol (IP) and/or Internet Packet Exchange (IPX). Ideal for small network connections over Frame Relay or Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) leased lines, the synchronous-only CLAM routers provide connection to an Ethernet LAN and offer a wide choice of WAN interfaces. The ISDN-only CLAM routers are ideal for remote sites that use ISDN for their primary connectivity. These routers support the simultaneous connection of two sites and ensure high-performance connectivity via their dial services support. ISDN-only CLAM routers have an ISDN BRI with either an S/T or U interface and an optional integrated Plain Old Telephone System (POTS) interface for attachment to analog equipment such as telephones, modems, and Fax machines. CLAM routers with an ISDN BRI U interface also include an integrated Network Termination 1 (NT-1) interface for direct attachment to ISDN circuits in North America. The synchronous and ISDN CLAM routers are designed to meet the needs of applications requiring leased line and ISDN connectivity. These CLAM routers are configured with an ISDN BRI S/T or ISDN BRI U interface and a synchronous interface. All CLAM routers support Nortel Networks Nautica Routing Services (NauticaRS) routing software, which provides a comprehensive set of standards-based features and services to maximize remote connectivity in multivendor environments. Remote office connectivity and availability is ensured via NauticaRS' dial-up services support, which includes Dial-on-Demand, Bandwidth-on-Demand, and Dial Backup for the CLAM routers.
