Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray
by danny691
Although I have used Bumble and Bumble products in the past I have to admit I have not bought any for a while. The purchase of the B+B Surf Spray was a spur of the moment thing and the 125ml spray bottle cost around £15 online. There are always offers on such products from various online retailers, so it is worth shopping around for the ... best deal. The price may appear pricey - especially considering this is just a 125ml bottle, but B+B products are not cheap by any stretch.
The packaging is very striking, with a jet black bottle finished in a silver screw-on pump spray. This is done very neatly and oozes class and expense! The black bottle creates the perfect backdrop for the aqua coloured text and bright yellow sunshine, the wording reading 'Bumble SOUTH' and 'Surf Spray' which is the name of the product in question. It is evident to say that I love the packaging and it sets the tone for the product really.
According to B+B this 'Surf Spray' will give your hair a 'sexy, salty, windswept look', very much what you would expect after a day on the waves I suppose. You could say that B+B are trying to sell a lifestyle and I get the impression such a product is for aspirational individuals that have just arrived home from a few weeks in the Sun and Surf. I have to say that the look I did expect to achieve was the typical 'wet look', and I am most glad that this isn't what happened. A few sprays of the solution through my short hair allowed me to get good coverage - I don't need to use much. I style my hair using both my fingertips and a comb and were pleasantly surprised to see the finished look. The spray leaves my hair with a matte finish and not a shiny one, giving a more modern look and feel. Texture is plentiful and ensures my styling stands out for all the right reasons.
For best results I always apply it to damp hair, though I also do this as I find my hair easier to work for styling purposes. I let my hair and the spray dry naturally and the matte finish unfolds once dry. I always do the styling before the product has dried in my hair, as once it has dried and you start messing about with it I find it loses its hold and you start to comb the product out of your hair.
For the price the jury is still out, and if you aren't comfortable paying £15 for a hair styling spray then I can imagine you being disappointed. If you are looking for a very professional and stylish looking finish then B+B are a brand to turn to, and the results can be truly amazing if applied correctly. On short hair I find the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray great, though there are still reservations over price. Read the complete review |

Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo
by kama0529
I recently bought some Bumble and Bumble leave - in conditioner and, at the same time, I saw some Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo so I thought I would buy some of this as well as it was described as a detox shampoo. I was uncertain as to why it was referred to as a "Sunday" shampoo, but apparently it means that the idea is ... that you use it once a week (on any day!) and that serves to detox your hair from hair products, pollutants, hard water minerals etc. However, before buying it, I wasn't aware that this product wasn't to be used on colour treated hair (I'm not a natural red head!) and so this was a little disappointing to me - but I decided to take a risk anyway and try it as it had been several weeks since I'd dyed my hair.
The shampoo comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a black screw top with the Bb Sunday logo on the front. It has easy to follow and simple instructions, as well as a list of ingredients and do's and don'ts. You can seen the shampoo through the bottle so you're aware when the shampoo is running out and needs replacing. A 250 ml bottle cost me £14.65 from Amazon.co.uk and I'm guessing it lasted my partner and I about ten weeks. I think that £14.65 is really very expensive for any shampoo, whether it is a detox shampoo or not.
In order to use, you use like most shampoos. You simply wet your hair, put the shampoo in your hair, lather and then when it has been well massaged in, rinse well. It only needs to be done once i.e. does not need to be repeated. As I mentioned earlier, you are not to use this after you have coloured your hair, but it is recommended for use before you treat your hair. However, I did use it on my hair a few weeks after I have coloured it and I had no ill effects from it.
The shampoo does lather up well and it does have a neutral but fresh smell to it. It also rinses out well and, despite my sensitive scalp, I did not have any skin type reactions from using the product. My hair was left feeling clean and in good condition - but it did leave it feeling squeaky clean rather than silky. Usually when I wash my hair, my hair feels soft, but after using this, my hair actively squeaked if I pulled it between my fingers (I don't know how else to describe it!). And so I did feel like I wanted to condition my hair straight away afterwards as I do like my hair to feel silky and soft. However, the B & B Sunday Shampoo and the B & B Leave - In Conditioner, my hair really did feel very clean, fresh and soft.
I do think that in the weeks I was using the Sunday Shampoo that my hair did feel in marginally better condition - but really the result was quite marginal! I was also a little disappointed that I had to wash my hair after the usual amount of time (2 days maximum) and that it didn't extend the period of time that I could leave it before having to rewash it. Bumble and Bumble is an expensive brand and, I have to say, that the two products I have tried, really don't make a big enough difference to warrant the much higher cost. For this reason, I will not use this product again. Read the complete review |
