The Belkin F.M Transmitter is a very simple yet clever idea; basically it plugs into your existing Ipod/ MP3 music device and transmits your music through your car or domestic radio on an empty frequency not used by any other radio station. It is not a new idea, there are other varieties on the market, but it is one of the better models and fits nicely into your Ipod earphone socket which as any Ipod owners will know is smaller than the conventional sockets found on other MP3s!
This unit, unlike some generic similar brands, can be used either with two AA batteries or by jacking it into your cigarette lighter (with a jack bought seperately ~does not come included). Be warned though, some other makes do not have the cigarette lighter option and if you DO use just batteries then you will find this will eat them rather quickly within a couple of days so if you don't have rechargeable ones then forget it!
The signal it provides is not perfect by any means but isn't bad. I have found with mine that I experience a bit of static, more when the batteries are getting low, but not enough to hinder enjoyment. The only snag is that obviously using this to transmit your music through the radio rather than listening to a CD means that you won't get any traffic announcements when they come through. Also, if you are going on a long journey, then the empty frequency that you are using may well suddenly become active meaning you have to re-tune or suddenly lose your signal!
That said, this is a pretty good device and has come in very useful on my journeys to and from work. I wouldn't be without mine and the only problem I have had that was related was when my jack into my cigarette lighter broke and I had to replace it just after a year had passed so out of warranty! Apart from that, this is a great ifdea and one of the better transmitters available on the market and at £11.21 from Amazon this is a really good buy and a jack for your cigarette lighter costs pence on Ebay!
Recommended! Especially if you like listening to your Ipod in your car!!
The belkin fm transmitter is a very unique and useful device where ever you are.
The main purpose of this product is to make any audio device is a 3.5mm headphone jack to play audio to a FM radio device at good quality.
For example the way i use it is as follows: I have a mp3 player, i get my fm transmitter and plug the cable into the mp3 player headphones jack and then switch on the transmitter. you must find a blank station on the fm radio before proceeding. e.g enter 91.1 then on your transmitter enter the same thing (91.1), you are then ready to go and you will hear all audio from your mp3 on the your fm radio just like a broadcast.
You can preset your favourite stations that you might find performs best which is handy.
The sound quality will not be as clear as cd audio but is still pretty impressive. Beware when using this device in the car as it can lose signal when passing tunnels and being too far from the radio towers if travelling out of the city.
overall it is a very reliable and a very simple device to use and is great to transmit music to any device with fm radio so there is no discs or other hardware to achieve this. very affordable to buy and has very long battery life.
Belkin TuneCast II Mobile FM Transmitter
This neat little item is highly recommended and I wish someone had told me about this earlier. No more fuss and tangles with ear phone wires or changing CD's!I can now listen to music on my mp3 or my mobile phone through my car radio while I do my daily two hour commute.
It's great and I don't get bored with the same radio stations or music Cd's.
I can also listen to my entire music collection or downloaded podcasts like the free French Ecole lessons on itunes as well as talking books.
My French is improving and I now have time to do enjoy literature.
The instructions were simple. I set up the Belkin transmitter up by choosing a frequency on the car radio that was not 'busy' and then tuning it in to the same frequency. The power plugs into the car lighter or you can use a battery.
The sound quality through the car speakers is good and it is
neat and nifty to fit in the glove compartment when not in use.
I like this so much I bought two, one for my husband's car as well.
The Belkin Tune cast II is a great addition to your car audio setup. The device allows you to play any musical device with a 3.5mm ear phone jack through your cars audio system. Great if you have a large collection of mp3's!
Un-licensed radio transmitters were until recently illegal but due to the very low power of this and similar devices they have been legalised and as such have become very popular with many different variations of the product on the market.
The device allows you to listen to your music through you car stereo through transmitting your music of choice over low strength radio waves to your car radio.
This is setup through choosing a radio frequency on your car radio that is picking up a commercial station and then setting the Belkin Tune Cast II to the same frequency. You then simply plug in your audio device such as an mp3 player and you've got all your GB's of music blaring through your car radio. Much better than trying to change the CD every 40min.
The Belkin Tune Cast II is a simple device which works extremely well under the right conditions. The hardest part is finding an un-used frequency, as any frequency with a commercial station broadcast over it will over ride the device due to its very low transmitting power. If this can be setup then you'll find it a brilliant alternative to taking your CD collection with you, or providing a way of setting up your MP3 player with a CD radio and no aux input.
