Advantages: Simple, solid affair that's fun and easy to use; lots of features but not too many

Disadvantages: Picture and sound quality not brilliant; no built-in speaker for playback

My brother owns this camcorder and he lent it to me recently when we were on holiday.

I thoroughly enjoyed using this and for anyone who needs to feel something in their hands when filming, this is for you.

Being Hi8, the video quality is far from brilliant, but for filming things like holidays and outings, it's all you need and it's a refreshing change from the itsy-bitsy little things you get on sale nowadays (this is coming from an eighteen year-old who's generally comfortable with technology).

The camcorder comes with built-in special effects which are useful if you don't happen to have video editing software at home and want to add some effects to your footage. I do have such software at home though, so I prefer to film normally and add in effects later if I want to.

The range of other features are good and useful, but if it's straightforward filming you're after, just point and shoot!

Summary: Good, solid camcorder which is fun and easy to use
