Panasonic DMW-PHH13XEK
by sjameson
I purchased this camera case on Amazon on 4 May 2012 after also purchasing my Panasonic Lumix TZ20 to take professional looking photos for my partner's graduation. After spending around £150 on the camera, I thought I may as well get the proper leather case for it also.
The panasonic case cost £15.23 with free delivery. It is ... now priced £14.00 on Amazon.
Tech Spec according to the Amazon website
The dimensions are 120 x 55 x 78
The weight is 72g
Features
The case is black leather, on the front of the case the 'LUMIX' logo indented into the leather. On the left side, there is a loop detail with a clip. On the back, there is a belt strap which I have never used as on a belt it would be quite bulky. Below the belt strap, the 'Panasonic' label is found. The case has an envelope design style. It opens and closes using a pop clip magnet fastening. On the inside there is only one compartment, so this case is purely just for your camera and nothing else, which means that additional batteries or spare memory cards for a photo packed day will not fit in this case. Inside the case, the material changes to a soft felt kind of material. I assume this is used to avoid the camera getting scratched which is a nice feature, especially for the TZ camera range which is notoriously a hefty price. The stitching on the case is very good quality, there are no threads or anything. It is nearly a year after I bought the item and it has lasted. The case is not worn at all, it has been on holidays, used on every night out, on every possible occasion and there are no signs of use.
Overall
The case does what it is made for, it has protected my camera and has not worn badly over the extreme use it receives. However, I hesitate to really endorse this product for a variety of reasons. Really, if you care about the branding and labels, then this product is for you. It is a good quality pouch and fits the description. However, if you don't care about matching the camera brand to your pouch then I would shop around as there are a lot of alternatives that provide more space, protection and perhaps at a more affordable price it just depends what you are looking for.
I give this product 3 stars, mainly for the lack of room for other additional necessities such batteries and memory cards and also for the price. Read the complete review |

Kolay Hard Shockproof Case

Silver Grey Pattern Hard Shockproof Camera Case for Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ1EB
I bought this from Amazon as it was recommended for the little water proof camera we just bought, the Panasonic DMC-FT20EB. Because the camera is water proof I thought it might be a good idea for the case to also be waterproof and this one promised ... that it was.
The other criterion that I thought vital was that the case fitted snugly. We have a case for another camera we own that makes the camera so bulky that more often than not I pop it in my handbag without its case which rather negates the point of having it.
Another pretty important factor was the price and this came up trumps as it was only £5.49 plus £1.49 delivery which I felt was a reasonable price for a quality camera case.
I chose the grey and silver one as the other options were quite bright, pink, marine blue, olive green, black, orange but none of the other colours appealed to both my husband and me so grey it was.
The case does exactly what I had hoped. It has a long strap which is light so that I can put it around my neck or over my shoulder. The ring connecting it to the case is slightly less strong than I had thought but as the camera is very light I am not too worried about it weighing too much and stretching the ring. I probably won't wear it too often around my neck but it is handy to know I can and also it might be handy when using the camera to be able to have the case around my neck.
The camera fits snugly in the case which is great as it doesn't make the camera plus bag too bulky for popping in my handbag or even my pocket of a coat which is where I had it when in Iceland most of the time.
The case has a zip which has two ends so that the case opens out but is kind of hinged at one end . This means the camera is easy to put in and also get out safely with little danger of it accidently dropping out .
The outer shell is waterproof and when zipped up and dropped in water it does float so that you can speedily rescue the camera and case from whatever pond, sea or river you have dropped it in. The camera should be safe and not wet inside but as the camera we have is waterproof that shouldn't be too much of a problem but very handy that it floats so that it gives you time to rescue the camera. Hopefully we won't have to really test that but in the interests of reviewing i have tested it in the sink full of water.
The fact that the case is water proof is handy but I also found it dried quite quickly which is useful as once it has had its dunking you wouldn't choose to carry the camera in it while wet so drying quickly near a radiator means that is we are somewhere sunny we should have no problems if it gets wet.
The case is also shock proof so in theory you could drop the camera in this case and the camera should be safe. Sorry but even in the interests of thorough reviewing I was not going to test this promise.
Inside the case is a small piece of net which is for extra storage but would just about hold a spare battery or memory card and not much else. When opening the case with other things inside you would need to be a bit careful they didn't fall out as there is not a zip to hold them in securely.
There is not a lot of padding inside which is why the case is neat and compact. It does seem to have a hard shell with the feel that it might well take the impact of a fall so protecting the camera inside. It feels kind of like polystyrene covered in a nylon fabric but I may be wrong.
Having owned this case for only two months it has been put through its tests of waterproofness at home but it did come on our trip to Iceland and we took it to the Blue Lagoon so that we could take photos while swimming in there with the camera. We didn't float it on the water or dunk the camera but we were happy in the knowledge that it would have floated and that our little camera was waterproof.
This camera and case are going to come with us to the Galapagos Islands on our sailing ship cruise and then to Easter Island so we are hoping both the camera and this neat little case live up to their promises.
The cover of the case is a sort of nylon fabric and so easy to keep clean which is good as it is quite a pale colour that I chose. Hopefully in a few years time it will still look as good and the zio will still run as easily as it does now.
