Crumpler The PP70

I picked up the Crumpler case quite a few years ago when I first bought a digital camera, I have it in black, but it also comes in red, silver and green. It can currently be purchased for around £8 in many stores on-line. The case is made from a super soft neoprene and measures 6cm X 2.5cm X 11cm. It fitted my Canon Power Shot 550 in ... very snugly. The case is opened and closed on three sides with a durable zip that is easy to open and has not caused me any problems whilst being used.
On the front of the case is the little Crumpler logo, which is basically a stick person with wavy, crumpled hair, that is quite distinctive, but not as in your face as other logos and branding. When you open up the case inside is a mesh pocket that you can keep Sd cards in or others small bits and bobs, in addition the case has a strap that you can detach.
The case is very light weight and has a feel of a wetsuit, it holds my camera well and I can also fit the camera strap into the case. Overall it is not very thick, but it does offer a decent amount of protection, as I am pretty clumsy and have a tendency to drop the camera, and so far it has not been damaged. The case is hard wearing and due to the nature of the fabric it has also remained clean and it looks pretty much new even after a few years or so.
The only downside of the case is that it is very basic, which also means as the case is fairly thin it does not add lots of bulk and can therefore be easily carried in your pocket or bag. Overall I find that although the case is easy to use in terms of putting the camera in, I find that taking it out is a little dangerous, as I said I am pretty clumsy and therefore like to get the camera strap onto my wrist before fully taking the case off in case I drop the camera.
Overall this is a basic camera case that offers a good level of protection, it looks good, wears well, is well priced and because of its compact design it is easy to carry around with you, I would recommended the case to others on this basis.

Crumpler The PP70

I'm a big fan of Crumpler products, I have laptop sleeves, quite a few of the bags, a DLSR camera case, and this little PP70 case for my compact camera.
I really like Crumpler products, they are very expensive, but they are really good quality. Crumpler products come with a 30 year guarantee, that's not a typo, that really is ... a '30' '3-0' 'thirty' year guarantee, hell that's probably even longer than the product that you're buying it to protect will last!
The PP camera cases come in different sizes to fit different sized cameras, or even other items such as an ipod for example. Each different size of the PP case has a slightly different product name; so there's the PP40, PP45, PP55, PP70, PP90 etc. The PP70 which I have has internal dimensions of 9.5cm x 6.5cm x 3cm, and I use this for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12 compact camera. I have this in black, but it does also come in various other colours too, I remember red and silver. I've had this for around 4 years now, and I seem to remember paying around £10 for this from Amazon.
This is made from a soft stretchy neoprene fabric which is really durable and robust, and which cushions and moulds around your camera, and which repels dust and dirt to a certain extent. It's very well padded to protect your camera, and it fastens with a sturdy zip which goes completely all around 3 of the sides so that it's easy to put your camera in and take it out. The case doesn't open out flat, it has little fabric sides built up inside the case to keep your camera securely held inside. It has the Crumpler logo on the outside of the sleeve.
Inside the case it is primarily just one compartment, although it does have a internal mesh pocket which is large enough to hold a spare battery for my camera and a spare picture card or two. The case closes easily even if I'm carrying the spare battery and picture cards along with my camera. This isn't a snug fit for my camera, it's a slightly looser fit, but I quite like that as it gives me the flexibility of adding the extras in the case.
This has a loop at one of the corners of the case, the corner where the zip fastening finishes once the case is closed. And there's a detachable lanyard attached to this, so that you could perhaps hang the lanyard around your neck if you wanted to. I've never done this, as I personally think that this is a bit naff! I took the lanyard off as soon as I bought the case, and I always just pop the case into my bag as opposed to carrying it around my neck!
I have to admit that I don't really take an awful lot of care of my compact camera, it has been dropped more times than I can remember, and it's always just thrown into an already overstuffed bag with an absolute tonne of other stuff, and this little case has proved to be absolutely invaluable. It has protected my camera perfectly, no matter how squashed or buried it may be in my bag, and it's even protected my camera from an awful lot of drops. I don't need to worry that my camera will be damaged when it's zipped within this little case.
I would definitely recommend Crumpler's PP range for compact cameras. I wouldn't hesitate to get another one if I needed a different size when I come to replace my compact camera. I've even converted my husband to using a PP case for his compact camera, he has the PP90 though as his compact camera is slightly bigger than mine.
