Cath Kidston Gadget Case
by daisylee3
After buying a new camera, i was in search of a decent camera case that would keep it secure, but would also look nice. I looked around on Amazon but couldn't particulary see anything that took my fancy, so had a glimpse on the Asos website as i'm aware that they sell a range of accessories. It didn't take long before i saw this, which ... is designed by Cath Kidston. I was attracted to it purely because it was a gorgeous floral, vintage looking case and very girly and summery - ideal for the upcoming summer months. Ofcourse the fact it's a cath kidston product was another of the reasons i instantly bought it, as i'm a huge fan of her products because of the great designs and good quality.
The case is 12cm long and 8cm wide, which is pretty small for a camera case, but big enough for an average digital camera or iPod touch/iPhone/blackberry. The material on the exterior of the case is pvc coated cotton which adds a shiny look to it and the inside of the case is a hundred percent polyester, adding a cushiony softness to keep the camera secure.
It's high quality and obvious that it's good quality just by the touch - it's got a sturdy feel to it.
The case is available in 2 patterns - both floral. One is white with a gorgeous pinky/red shade rose pattern (complete with green stalks), and one is baby blue on the front and back with a mixed-colour floral pattern on it, on the sides it's white.
The case has a simple zip which has a little rubber tag on it with cath kidston's name in red handwriting, the zip goes half way down either side, making it easy to open and close quickly. There is a detatchable strap included which you can sling around your neck and it's good for when you're out for the day and want to keep your camera handy. I can't fit the case into my jean pockets as it's a bit too long and sticks out the top, so usually just put it in my handbag when going out.
I bought the case from Asos.com for £6, saving £2 as it was in the sale. This is alot more than i'd usually pay for a camera case but because it's a cath kidston product i wasn't too bothered as i feel the quality of her items is up to standard and a majority of her items are alot more than £6 so i felt i got somewhat of a bargain!
I'm really happy with my case. I have the blue one which i love and i'd certianly get another one either for myself (if i ever get another camera), or as a gift for a friend. It's unique, versatile, girly, in season and is ideal for any vintage-style/floral print fan! Read the complete review |

Cath Kidston Gadget Case
by arleek
I am a great fan of Cath Kidston's designs and products, but I am not a great fan of her prices. So as a special birthday treat earlier in the year, my children (aged 3 and 2, so perhaps too young to select their own gift for me!) bought me this gadget case for my digital camera - one of the cheapest items on her website. ...
It can actually be used to store any sort of gadget such as a mobile phone, ipod, camera...as long as the item falls with the size of the gadget case (which is approx 9 x 13cm with a depth of 4cm - so it's fairly sizeable).
I was fed up of using my boring black camera case, and I thought this jazzy oilcloth case would brighten up my life a little bit. I was quite prepared to exchange £8 for the item because I thought it was a bit different to your usual camera case, and the pretty pattern was worth it.
As stated above, the case is big enough to hold many different types of small gadgets we are now all so familiar with and rely on in our everyday lives. It also comes with a long detachable strap, long enough to have round your neck so you can carry the gadget case like a bag, if you wish. I have actually detached mine because I just find it irritating and would never carry a camera around my neck because I spend most of my time bent over fastening shoes, picking up dropped toys...so it would just drag on the floor if I did.
The case has a zip fastening with goes half way down either side, so you have plenty of space for retrieving your 'gadget' from the case. It's also a zip that stays closed, not one of these that gradually works its way undone until 'crash' your gadget is on the floor in pieces.
Inside the case is a small pocket, well I say pocket because that's what it's advertised as, suitable for storing memory cards. It's just a 'slip-in' pocket with no closure, so it really serves no purpose, well not for me anyway. I have a spare battery for my camera which I like to keep in this pocket in the gadget case, but most of the time when I open the case and get my camera out, the battery usually comes flying out too. I have actually nearly lost this battery several times because of this. It would have been a lot better if they had put a small amount of Velcro on the pocket, or perhaps a small zip. Then this 'pocket' would actually function as a useful extra.
To say that this item was a treat for myself (from my kids of course!) it's not really something I have been totally happy with. I've had it for 6 months now and to be honest, the quality is very high because I use my camera every day so the zip has been opened and closed more times than I care to count, the camera has reamined intact despite my clumsiness. The case has been everywhere with me, yet it still looks brand new; the design is brilliant, I just love the colours and the whole look of the item
But as a functioning camera case it's really not that good. To be honest, it's a bit big for my digital camera and it tends to rattle about in there, the inside pocket is rubbish, and the long strap I found irritating.
So it's not really something I would buy again or recommend, and I'm actually beginning to think that Cath Kidston items are really not worth the money!
Available in 6 pretty designs for £8 each on the Cath Kidston website.

Lowepro Pixel Pak V1
by boredindunoon
After losing one of my secure digital memory cards, I decided that it was time to invest in some proper storage for them. Strangely enough I discovered that there isn't actually a great variety of products designed for this purpose. Maybe I was looking in the wrong places, but I could only find this Lowepro memory card holder and a ... SanDisk one. Nevertheless I decided to buy this one and for the most part I'm very happy with it.
It does what it's designed to do, offering stylish protection for my memory cards. There is nothing major I can fault about the card holder itself. It's compact, well built, gives you easy access when you need it, while remaining shut when you don't, and honestly it looks pretty professional and rather neat.
It would have been good if the card holder was dust and or waterproof. But the only real failing is that it isn't exactly good value for money. Nearly fourteen pounds at time of ordering seems a bit extreme. For that reason I cannot award this product five stars. But still I suppose the price is reasonable when compared to the cost of losing a memory card along with its contents. So still a good purchase and one I'm glad I made.
