Lowepro D-Res 10 AW
Advantages: Well priced, plenty of padding, water resistant
We are fortunate enough to own two digital cameras, one of which I inherited from my husband when he got himself a much fancier digital camera, and passed on his older smaller compact digital for me to keep and use. LIke all cameras, it is important to keep them safe and protected whilst out and about, and especially when travelling, so some form of pouch is necessary.
The pouch that I have to protect my inheritedcompact digital camera, is this Lowepro D-REs 10 AW bag, which can be picked up online for around the £10 mark. This pouch comes with a long handle making it ideal to be worn across the body for added security or thrown over the shoulder. When on holiday, I would always have worn this pouch across my body and it was so comfortable I hardly even remembered it was there. The other option in terms of wearing this pouch is to attach it to your belt, as there is a velcro tab at the back of the pouch to seek it secure on your belt. I have to say that I don't know just how safe I would feel carrying this pouch on my belt, but it is maybe something a man would be more inclined to do, rather than wearing this bag across the body. If you want to take the main pouch off the handle quickly whilst you are wearing it, you can release the pouch and the camera by unclipping the clasps, which is easy to do.
Not only does this pouch hold your compact digital camera, but it also has the capacity at 10 x 5 11.5 cm to also house batteries and memory card.
The bag itself is supposed to be water resistant and since I have had this out in the rain before on holiday, I can testify that is does keep camera and everything else inside completely dry, which is obviously pretty essential. Within the pouch, the thick padding is very evident, on both the pouch zip cover and the main body of the pouch. The camera itself can sit at the back of the pouch, and there is another small pouch to place either memory card or batteries. You could also fit in other small items as well, which you may wish to do when trying to keep valuables safe whilst out and about, especially on holiday.
I have taken this camera in this pouch on many many outings and on many plane journeys where I am sure it has got bashed around and dropped etc but never once has the bag shown any sign of abuse, and even more importantly the camera has never ever been damaged. I like the fact that I can wear this pouch across my body when on holiday and carrying my camera all the time as it helps to make me feel more secure. I can get at the camera easily with the zip pocket, and I don't have to worry about wearing this pouch in wet weather as it will keep the equipment inside completely dry. All in all, a great well priced camera pouch.
The pouch itself is relatively attractive, with mainly black and grey material used.
Summary: A great pouch for compact digital camera
