      Lowepro Santiago 10 Pouch

      About Lowepro
      = = = = = = = =
Lowepro do a large range of camera accessories such as bags and pouches for all different types of cameras and equipment. Their products are well known and can be found in most camera and photography stores and are available to purchase on various different websites. Their range of cases are built to protect your camera and other valuable items such as digital devices and other personal items. Lowepro is an original trusted brand that has been around since 1967 and still remain popular now all around the world. Their products are of high quality and are durable for all types of conditions and weather. Each product is designed to meet the demands of professionals who are passionate about photography. I first came across their product when I purchased my new digital camera just before Christmas from Jessops. Although they had a large range of camera cases and pouches, this seemed to be the most popular brand in the shop.

      The Case/Pouch
      = = = = = = = = =
The case I chose was for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS41. I would be carrying the camera in my bag a lot so I wanted a case that was going to protect it from any damage or light scratches. They actually call this a pouch rather than a case. This pouch has a hard ribbed shell with dense foam padding which helps to ensure maximum protection from knocks and bumps. The case has a slightly textured feel to it which is slightly rough. The Lowepro logo is on the front of the case. On the back of the case is a belt loop which is strong and it has the website of Lowepro printed on it in silver. The belt loop feels quite strong and also very tight so I think this would be very sturdy if attached to a belt. There is a black zip which goes around the case and can be opened either side to ensure you can get to the camera quickly. The inside of the case is a light grey colour and feels quite soft. There is a black elasticated strap that helps to keep items snug and secure in the case. A small camera can be slipped behind the elasticated strap to ensure it doesn't move around when on the move. The soft brushed lining in the case helps to protect the cameras LCD screen and lens from scratches and dust. There is a small interior slip pocket on the front wall of the case which is suitable for a memory card. The case also comes with a detachable shoulder strap which is black in colour.

This particular case actually comes in 3 different sizes and comes in a range of different colours. This is Santiago Case 10 but it also comes in Santiago 20 and Santiago 30 as well. Each of these cases is suitable for different sized cameras. The case comes in Black, Arctic Blue and Grey. I actually purchased the black colour as this is the only one that was available to purchase in Jessops at the time. You can purchase this case from Amazon for as little as £9.50 which I think is very reasonable for a strong, protective case for your camera.

      Using the Case
      = = = = = = = =
Ever since I purchased my new camera I have been using the case. The camera fits into the case perfectly and I can do the case up without it being too tight around the edge of the camera. The look of the case is very plain and simple but I like the simple design. The case looks tough from the outside and the hard shell also feels quite tough as well. I find the zips easy to use and as there are 2 zips it makes it quicker and easier to get to the camera. The zips on the case are very strong as I have had no issues with them breaking or coming off. The inside of the case is very neat and is finished well unlike some of these cheaper camera cases that you can purchase off the internet. I have a screen protector on my camera anyway but I find that the soft lining in the case helps to keep dust and scratches off the screen protector. I actually store a small memory stick in the small pouch that's in the case and I can still get my camera in here without any problems.

The case is very lightweight, even with the camera in and it's easy to hold in your hand. Due to the slightly rough texture of the case you can get a good grip on it. Although the case comes with an adjustable strap I haven't used the strap and probably won't as I just keep the camera in my handbag. The strap does attach easily to the side of the case and the hook which the strap attaches to seems very strong. I've had the camera case for at least 3 months and I haven't come across any problems with the case. Although it doesn't actually state on the website or any other website about the case being waterproof I am confident that this would keep the camera dry if you were holding the case whilst in the rain. I wouldn't how-ever suggesting immersing the case in water or dropping it in deep water. I haven't used the belt loop on the case and this isn't something that I would use, how-ever this seems very strong so I would be confident if I did attach this to a belt for easier carrying. I have got a 1 or 2 marks on the case where it has been in my bag but if I wipe it with a cloth most of the marks do come off.

      Overall Opinion

I'm glad that this was the only type of case I could purchase at the time with my camera as I think it's definitely of good quality and lives up to its claims of protecting the camera and keeping any damage being done to your camera. The case is very plain and simple looking but I think this gives the case a nicer finish to it, especially the black case. I think the internal pocket is a great idea for a spare memory card and in fact you could fit at least 2-3 extra memory cards in here and still be able to close the camera case. The case is made very well and is very strong and durable helping to protect your camera. In terms of value I think the case is really good value and definitely one of the best brands of cases available to purchase. This case does a really good job of protecting my camera and I don't think I could have found a better case. I would definitely recommend this case or even the brand to others as I haven't been disappointed and I don't think I will. I think the case will last a very long time, until I eventually purchase a new digital camera which won't be for a good few years.
