When I saw the advertisement on Dooyoo showing this case available for £42 I thought I had grabbed a real bargain as I only paid £17.99 for it! Unfortunately I hadn't grabbed such a great bargain as I had thought, but this does mean it is available for under £20 online. The Sony LCS THM/RI could also be known as the Sony camera case for their Cybershot series of digital cameras. I bought this case for my Sony Cybershot W570 and the extremely soft finish to the inner case keeps a firm grip of my digital camera.
This Sony Cybershot case is clearly a quality product. The soft genuine leather case makes for a high quality finish to the outer of the case, accompanied by a band on the edge of the case flap carrying the Cybershot branding. Sony designed this case for use with their Cybershot range of cameras and clearly a lot of effort was put into its design. Aswell as the soft leather finish to the case there is a nice and soft lining to the case. This means your digital camera will be well protected and will minimise scratching of lenses and screens etc. The final piece of the package is a genuine leather strap, allowing you to optionally attach it to the case in order to carry it easily. The case flap is secured to the case with a magnetic strip. The hold is firm but i would have preferred a press-stud for added safety. Saying this I think the magnetic strip makes the whole look more appealing.
There are much cheaper digital camera cases on the market, but this is specifically designed for the Cybershot series and coupled with the high quality leather and finish I think it is worth the added expense. The Dooyoo image shows a red case but mine is black and I havn't seen any other colours available. If it were to be available in a wide range of colours this would be yet another positive with the product.
I havn't tried different Cybershot models in this case, but I would imagine they all fit equally well as the W570. If you have quite a slim model from the Cybershot series then you have added space for accessories such as SD cards etc. Unfortunately I can see the negatives of having a slim digital camera with this case, as the case will make it much bulkier to carry and defeats the object of getting a slimline camera in the first place.
I love the fact this case is designed for all Sony Cybershot series cameras, unfortunately different sizes means it doesn't give an ideal fit for all models. The positives of this case mean I have to award 3 stars - an average rating. Ultimately the fact this is such a 'versatile' case is what lets it down. Why have a universal fit case when most people only own one digital camera?
