	Tamron A017 ... is a great lens and will suite most amateur photographers needs. The detail and sharpness even at full zoom is fantastic even when hand held. The lens itself is light but feels very ruggedly built and is constructed of high quality glass which you would normally only find in more expensive lenses. Tamron have produced a lens that is not going to break the bank to buy and is not going to give you aches and pains carrying it around all day. I took some shots of a jackdaw in the distance and the sharpness of the image it captured was far more than i was expecting. 	Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro Lens Canon Fit ... is a world leader in lenses and they are proving that they can actively compete with Cannon and Nikon This Sigma 70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Interchangeable Lens is a great lense, I was suprised just how good infact, I have several Macro lenses, by cannon and nikon and this is easily as good if not better. The build quality is superb, the lens feels very robust and the manual focus ring is nicely it feels very sturdy and looks like a very expensive Nikon lense as apposed to a cheaper alternative. The opticals on this lense are very good, I compared them from f/2.8 through to f/11 and f/16, noticed there was a little colour reproduction problem, but nothing serious and... 	Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens ... make this clear that it is the older version of 18-55mm before they upgraded it to fit the 450D and above. So 400D and below. ============== When starting out in photography; most people get entry level camera body like 400D Canon EOS, this lens comes with the body to form the basic kit lens. As far as I know, you cannot purchase this lens officially with its boxes and such, you can buy one off Ebay for a reduced price of £50 or so without its boxes. Before purchasing the entire kit, you will have to realise that the lens will have to be replaced very soon as it does not perform as well as its counterparts such as Canon 24-105mm for example.
