FlexiPack Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 EX DC Macro: ... Please note this review is for the Macro version of the lens. There are two versions of the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 EX DC. The earlier version did not have a Macro designation. Also my experience is based on using the Canon mount of this lens however I am not aware of any differences on the other mounts of this lens (apart from the Nikon with HSM) * I bought the Sigma 18-50mm EX DC f/2.8 as an upgrade to my previous...

Nibblewood Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Zoom Lens
... most important thing to look for in a camera lense is the picture quality. Why else would you buy it? Used correctly, the lense will create brilliant quality pictures. Sharp even up to the top end 300mm there can be abolutely no complaints, for me, about picture quality. However, whilst it is the most important factor, it is not the only one. Ease of use. This is where i saw the signs of it being a relatively budget lense. The focus ring can be stiff, which can affect how quickly you can focus on a once in lifetime object in time. It s not hard to move, but all i m saying is that it can be a bit jerky. It does poke out a bit at 300mm, but that can be expected. Overall...

... 90mm f2.8 Macro is a very sharp lens with 1:1 macro capability. It is one of the sharpest lens in its class. I have had the lens for over 3 years and compared its optical performance with different lens, including some Nikons professional range lens. The lens is always among the top few in sharpness. 90mm focus length is quite useful for both portrait and macro photography. There is almost no distortion which is perfect for portrait. The build quality is very good for the money with smooth operation of focus ring and easy push pull switch between AF and MF mode. The sharpness maintains well throughout the most of aperture settings except at extremes. f2.8 is quite ...

... good value alternative to the Nikon or Canon 70-300 lenses. This lens outperforms the old nikon 70-300 G lens. It does not have vibration reduction/image stabilisation like some of the nikon or canon alternatives, but at the price you can t really complain about that. You just have to make sure you keep the shutter speed up, and have good long lens technique using a tripod, monopod, beanbag etc. It is pretty sharp even wide open, so makes a great cheap lens with reasonable reach. Focuses usefully close too, especially the macro version, so is great for chasing butterlies and dragonflies about. The focus isn t particularly fast, and it can hunt a bit too. Also, as i...
