Out of the box, the lens is very small in comparison to just about all others. It feels very light, and not particularly substantial. It does feel cheaply built and it does rattle slightly. Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... bought this lens for my Canon EOS 400D and has became my favorite in term of depth of field. You can create photo like you see in the magazine. On my 400D cropped sensor it will approximate an 80mm lens. This means that for full lengh you have to back-up a lot which that might not be possible. However for waist length shot the lense is fine. But even better for portrait as you can throw a cluttered background out of focus. I am a spoiled user since all my other lenses have got USM (Ultrasonic focus motor) which make them quicker and quieter but at a price. Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... am a professional photographer with 15 years experience. www.flickr.com/ultraphotosonic I got this lens as a christmas present in 2007. I have NEVER been even a little bit satisfied with this lens. IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP! Why? The glass is so cheap that at 1.8, NOTHING is sharp. At 1.8 there is NO plane of focus, it goes from blurry to less blurry to blurry. You d have to go 2 stops down to make thing clear up any. Also, the crap dirt (worthless probly china plastic) cheap glass causes a glow in the highlights. This lens has the effect of shooting with a filter 100% smeared with vasoline. Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Zoom Lens ... bought this lense to go with my canon eos 450d. I really like the lense, its easy to use (once i got used to it being the other way around to my canon one, i.e turns opposite way to focus!). I m really pleased with the lense. you can zoom a really long way and the pictures which come out are still perfect. the lense it quite heave, but so are more lenses of this size. I can t fault it though. it comes with its own carry case, which is quite nice and end caps (obviosley!) I can t fault the lense at all, i recently dropped it from about 2 feet, onto a roack, which it then rolled and bounced down for about 3 feet. i was dredding the worst, but the lense is still fi...
