Tamron 172NE ... 90mm f2.8 Macro is a very sharp lens with 1:1 macro capability. It is one of the sharpest lens in its class. I have had the lens for over 3 years and compared its optical performance with different lens, including some Nikons professional range lens. The lens is always among the top few in sharpness. 90mm focus length is quite useful for both portrait and macro photography. There is almost no distortion which is perfect for portrait. The build quality is very good for the money with smooth operation of focus ring and easy push pull switch between AF and MF mode. The sharpness maintains well throughout the most of aperture settings except at extremes. f2.8 is quite ... Read the full review: Tamron 90mm Macro lens by starshine35 |

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens ... I first bought my digital SLR, it came with a free lens, and I was happy to use this for the snapshots I was taking, I had a decent zoom (100-400 f4.5-5.6 L) which I used most of the time so wasn t too bothered about much else. But as I started to take different styles of photos I realised my kit lens was really limited, couldn t get the close ups I wanted, and the sharpness was lacking. So I took the plunge and bought a really good prime lens (as opposed to a zoom) the canon 100 mm f/2.8 USM macro lens, and I am so glad I did. First the technical stuff, weighing in at 21.1 ounces you get a nice sturdy feel that is still handholdable (real word?) with ease. 3.1 inc... Read the full review: A five star lens. by beolens |

Canon EF-S ... bought this lens to use because when I first bought my Canon 400D, I didn t buy the kit lens to go with it (which in retrospect was a silly decision). It s quite pricey but well worth the cost, especially if you are a heavy portrait or macro shooter. Since it is a prime lens, the photographs it takes are beautifully sharp and crisp and the colours are very accurate. At large apertures the bokeh is really beautiful and soft, with no vignetting or fringing. However, I haven t tried it at the other end of the aperture yet. I would really recommend getting a tripod if you don t have one, however. It s a very fast lens and will mount onto any Canon camera that has the EF m...
