Tokina AT X840 ... one of the independent lens manufacturers, albeit less well known than Tamron and Sigma. They do not have a very extensive range, but their lenses have a reputation for being well built. I ve owned their 80-400mm lens for two years now. I wanted as much reach as possible for as little money as possible and the Tokina fitted the bill best. This lens is extremely well built. It s manufactured from metal, rather than plastic like most other lenses at the cheap end of the market, so is quite heavy. This weight does give the lens a solid feel, however. Tamron SP A08 ... have owned this lens for over two years now and, as my favourite type of photography is wildlife/birds, it s my most used lens. It s enabled me to take some very good photographs during this time due to its versatility and high quality optics. The build quality is, for a lens in its price range, perfectly acceptable. The lens, although extremely lightweight (for its size), appears well put together. After two years hard use, there s no sign of any wear at all in my copy. In use, this lens is easy to hold, and to adjust for focal length. The body has a knurled grip which is easy to turn, even when wearing gloves. Tamron 572DE ... you ve got yourself an SLR or Digital SLR? Now you ll need to start buying extras! One of the most important extras you ll probably ever need is a good telephoto or zoom lens. There are a bewildering number of lenses available and you ll need to be careful you get one that s compatible, especially if shopping via ebay. Take the Tamron 572D lens for example. Type it into dooyoo, and the first four matches you ll get will be for four different camera types.
