Advantages: Cheap way to add a fast prime lens to your kit bag

Disadvantages: It is very badly made

The 'nifty fifty'!
I really love this lens, though I really shoudnt. It is a piece of crap, but it takes fantastic photographs. It looks cheap and nasty but it outperforms a couple of my other lenses.

It's a conundrum to be frank - I guess you just have to take it for what it is, a cheap way to add a very handy prime lens to your kit bag. The 50mm is very good for portraits and it is also really handy for gigs, the low light and the clarity of means you can get the photographs you need.

Good Points - Very fast f/1.8, nice clear optics
Bad Points - Cheap plastic construction, unreliable auto focus(it sticks)

Alot of people say, get this once you tire of the kit lens. I would say, get something better once you tire of the kit lens, a sigma 30mm perhaps? Its all about the money I guess.

Summary: The nifty fifty. Know what your buying before you dive in there.
