Advantages: Inexpensive with great results

Disadvantages: body made from plastic

I just got this lens through the post today and already I am happy with the results!

I have a Canon 400D, which comes with an 18mm - 55mm zoom lens attached, which isn't bad, but it's also not great, especially in low light conditions. Even those pictures taken on nice sunny days or with a fast shutter speed aren't as sharp as you may hope, which is especially annoying when taking portrait shots.

But none of this is a problem with this baby! For the first time I have been able to take indoor shots without the use of a flash thanks to the f/1.8 aperture! In addition all the pictures I took today came out looking nice an clean and crisp!

One word of warning though, putting this 50mm lens on my 400D turns the lens into more of a 70mm lens due to the fact the 400D isn't a full frame SLR camera. So this lens isn't perfect if you want to take pictures at close range to your subject.

Still a great purchase for under £80!

Summary: perfect for portraits!

Good review, but some people might find the technical details a little confusing x
