Advantages: Maybe you will learn from the mistake of buying this lens

I got this lens as a christmas present in 2007. I have NEVER been even a little bit satisfied with this lens. IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP! Why? The glass is so cheap that at 1.8, NOTHING is sharp. At 1.8 there is NO plane of focus, it goes from blurry to less blurry to blurry. You'd have to go 2 stops down to make thing clear up any. Also, the crap dirt (worthless probly china plastic) cheap glass causes a glow in the highlights. This lens has the effect of shooting with a filter 100% smeared with vasoline. If I smashed this lens with a sledge hammer would be the first satisfaction that I've ever had with it. Ive NEVER taken a picture I was happy with with this lens. Id rather use my Canon 70-200 2.8 USM IS.

Dont waste your money, go for the more expensive L glass.
