Great lens for the price (Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2)

I am a budding wedding and portrait photographer, and for the last wedding I shot (that expression does ammuse me!) I wanted a fast lens that would allow me to throw the background completly out of focus.

I opted for this lens because it offered me the focal length (even with the 1.6 factor bumping it up) and speed I was looking for, for a very reasonable price.

I have taken some of my best photographs with this lens, it really does deliver, I have had no problems with sharpness of the subjects as I know one reviewer here was unhappy with this.

The lens itself is small and increadibly light, the build quality is representative of the price, in other words it feels cheap! But as long as you look after it this should not prove a problem.

The auto focus system is a little slower than the EFs lenses but again was not a problem for what I was using it for. Having read amazon reviews etc before the purchase I was also expecting the focusing mechanism to be very noisy, but although audiable is hardly noticable.

Overall this is a great lens, if your looking for the speed at this fixed focal lengh for a very reasonable price then I would suggest this product.
