Canon 7042A003 ... lens is sharp, fast and focuses quickly. Comes with a lens hood and tripod mount. The IS will give you a 3 stop advantage over a non IS lens. A great lens for portraits as well as sports. Does wonderful bocca at wide apertures. If you can afford this lens it is a fantastic lens. Canon also makes the 70-200 2.8 non IS and also the 70-200 F4 non IS. These two lens are also great but if you shoot in low light conditions without a tripod or monopod then this is the lens to buy. Somebody asked about the IS. I use image stabilizer only for hand held shots. If the camera is on a tripod then the IS actually becomes disabled even when switched on. The IS works both in vertic... Canon 2570A004 ... to chose Canon EF 75-300mm IS lens? Because is long, heavy and expensive. But seriously, the lens is suitable to use exclusively with Canon EOS range of cameras, SLR as well as DSLR (Digital SLR). It works with all new digital SLR including 20D and 30D, so if you use a compact Canon camera the lens is not for you! Canon tends to sell the SLR (or DSLR) cameras as a set including a lens. Usually the lenses included in the package aren’t best quality, don’t get me wrong, there isn’t anything wrong with them but they are just basic lenses deprived of newest gizmos like IS, USB and so on… Currently Canon produces seven different lines of lenses to suite any job and pocket... Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... have owned this lens for around five years now. Although far from what I would call a 'quality' lens, it is an ideal introduction to prime lenses. Sadly, the moving front section of my lens broke off shortly after purchase and despite returning it to Canon under warranty, it remains broken. Their suggestion was that the lens had been dropped, despite the almost mint finish to the lens body, but that's another story for another op. With a small amount of Araldite and a cocktail stick, I've managed to fix the front section back in, but it's auto-focus days are over. Manual is still OK though.
