Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... am a budding wedding and portrait photographer, and for the last wedding I shot (that expression does ammuse me!) I wanted a fast lens that would allow me to throw the background completly out of focus. I opted for this lens because it offered me the focal length (even with the 1.6 factor bumping it up) and speed I was looking for, for a very reasonable price. I have taken some of my best photographs with this lens, it really does deliver, I have had no problems with sharpness of the subjects as I know one reviewer here was unhappy with this. Canon EF 75-300mm f4/5.6 USM MK3 ... bought this lens to add to the Canon 400D with 18-55mm lens that I purchased last year. I found the 18-55 a bit limited to snapshot type photos and wanted a lens that could add more to my very limited repotoire. The lens itself is well constructed and its appearance obviously matches the camera perfectly. The lens gives the appearance of being heavy, this is not the case, for its size it is quite light and well balanced even on full zoom. The motor used for Auto Focus is smooth, quick enough for my needs and not noisy. Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... ve owned this lens for about six months now. First impression was it is very light and plastic. I ve not had any problems with this but I m always very careful with it. I m still scared that a drop will cause it to spring open. I use the lens most for taking portrait shots. As I have a Canon 300D its focus length is multiplied by a 1.6 factor. This effectively makes it a 80mm lens. The small f stop allows you to get great looking blurred back grounds - just like the professionals. I ve taken some great photos though you need to watch the field of depth or you can end up with a lot of soft photos. I also like to use this lens for low light shots. Again the small f stop...
