Canon 2570A004:
... to chose Canon EF 75-300mm IS lens? Because is long, heavy and expensive. But seriously, the lens is suitable to use exclusively with Canon EOS range of cameras, SLR as well as DSLR (Digital SLR). It works with all new digital SLR including 20D and 30D, so if you use a compact Canon camera the lens is not for you! Canon tends to sell the SLR (or DSLR) cameras as a set including a lens. Usually the lenses included... Read the full review: Why 75-300? by malekowie |

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... have owned this lens for around five years now. Although far from what I would call a 'quality' lens, it is an ideal introduction to prime lenses. Sadly, the moving front section of my lens broke off shortly after purchase and despite returning it to Canon under warranty, it remains broken. Their suggestion was that the lens had been dropped, despite the almost mint finish to the lens body, but that's another story for another op. With a small amount of Araldite and a cocktail stick, I've managed to fix the front section back in, but it's auto-focus days are over. Manual is still OK though. Despite owning the 28-80mm f3.5 and the 75-300mm f4.... Read the full review: Cute and cheap. by MarcGJ |

Canon EF 28-105 f3.5/4.5 II USM ... 28-105 mm lens gives you an excellent range of focal lengths. From wide angle at 28mm, ideal for landscapes and and general town scenes, to short telephoto at 105 mm, which is great for portraits or zooming in on those distant scenes. I have found the 28-105, virtually the only lens I will need for my EOS30, which means I don't have to weigh myself down when travelling around. Canon now offer a 28-90 as a standard for most of their SLR bodies, but the optical quality doesn't quite match that of the 28-105. Everyone I have communicated with speaks highly of this lens. Buy it in preference to the 28-80 or 28-90 zooms you won't regret it. It's ... Read the full review: Excellent Standard Zoom lens by pemburyuk |

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2 ... from mount to focus ring, so you have to treat it kind of carefully. This also makes it feather light, so it it a great lens to use all day long. Being able to get down to F1.8 is really handy for taking interesting portraits, or for close up 'macro' work with a tight focus range. The AF is not USM (not even micro-USM), hence it is noisy and relatively slow compared with top end Canons. However, it tends to lock on in less than a second in nearly all cases. MF is difficult, since the focus ring is right on the end of the lens, and very narrow. However, it can be done, and I've been quite successful using MF while tracking moving fish in aquariums....
