Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MK2:
... is widely considered to be the finest lens per pound that a Canon user can buy. It can usually be picked up second hand for somewhere around £50. Wide open, the 1.8 aperture means that it can comfortably be used for indoor portraiture, and the resulting image quality is second to none. It is a fixed lens, so the lack of a zoom ability is a drawback for some- although it results in finer optical quality (and imp... Canon 500 ... up lenses are designed to be screwed onto the front of your normal camera lens in order to change the closest focusing distance. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is a small double-element lens that screws onto the filter threads on a standard (non-macro) lens. Such close-up lenses result in higher magnification when used with longer telephoto lens. In essence they allow you to get close up to your subject matter and are ideal for macro-photography. It allows your normal lens to be focused at a much closer distance- resulting in a higher magnification of the subject. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is intended to be used on lenses with a focal length of 70mm-300mm and is d... Read the full review: A Close Subject by Zmugzy |

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens ... recently purchased a sweet Canon 400D/XTi Rebel from Amazon.co.uk (£45 cashback!) and this standard zoom lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm) came with it. As far as I know, you cannot purchase the Canon EF-S 18-5mm on it s own, as it s designed specifically to be sold with the 400D/XTi Rebel package. I m sure you can pick up a cheap one on eBay though (probably removed from a kit package, or being sold due to an upgrade from kit package). I ve seen the EF-S 18-55mm sell for around £25-£35 at undamaged/rarely used condition on eBay, which is quite cheap! I obviously chose the kit lens package with my 400D/XTi Rebel as it only adds about £40 in the price difference, and I couldn... Read the full review: The EF-S 18-55mm Kit Lens by ferocity |

Canon EF-S ... bought this lens to use because when I first bought my Canon 400D, I didn t buy the kit lens to go with it (which in retrospect was a silly decision). It s quite pricey but well worth the cost, especially if you are a heavy portrait or macro shooter. Since it is a prime lens, the photographs it takes are beautifully sharp and crisp and the colours are very accurate. At large apertures the bokeh is really beautiful and soft, with no vignetting or fringing. However, I haven t tried it at the other end of the aperture yet. I would really recommend getting a tripod if you don t have one, however. It s a very fast lens and will mount onto any Canon camera that has the EF m...
