Leica 60mm f/2.8 Macro-Elmarit-R:
... Neither the quality of results nor the magnification of a "macro zoom" are in the same league as a purpose-designed macro lens. If a macro lens can also perform well at normal distances, up to infinity, then it can be a very versatile tool indeed. The Leica 60mm f/2.8 Macro-Elmarit-R lens is very well corrected, not only at the extreme close distances for which it was designed but also at ranges up ... Leica 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M ... with focal lengths longer than 50mm, generally referred to as telephoto lenses, are mostly used for portraiture, for isolating elements of a landscape, for capturing architectural detail, for theater photography and generally whenever subjects have to be photographed from a distance. Telephoto lenses for Leica M rangefinder cameras are available at focal lengths of 75mm, 90mm and 135mm. All the lenses in Leica’s current range in these focal lengths are excellent performers. However, Leica’s sole 75mm lens is the f/1.4 Summilux, which is a superb lens but is also bulky and expensive. Leica also has only one 135mm lens, the APO-Telyt f/3.4, which ... Leica 35mm f/2 Summicron-R ... 35mm lens is possibly the most generally useful of all focal lengths in 35mm camera photography. It is ideal for general travel photography, street scenes, groups and family snaps. It gives a markedly wider view than a standard 50mm lens but does not pose the difficulties often encountered with wider angle lenses, when it comes to composition and keeping the camera level. Leica’s 35mm f/2 Summicron-R is very well corrected, with excellent resolution, color rendition and contrast. Colors are neutral, as is generally the case with Leica lenses. Fine details are rendered sharply from the center to the edges, even at full aperture and at close range. Vignett... Leica 24mm f/2.8 Elmarit-R ... makes only one prime R lens with 24mm focal length and this is it - the 24mm f/2.8 Elmarit-R. There is no 21mm any more in Leica's current R lens line-up and the next widest lens is 19mm - a big difference. So, the 24mm focal length can be a very useful one, especially if you already own a 35mm lens and feel that 28mm is too close, as I did. Optical performance of the 24mm Elmarit-R is quite respectable and certainly above average as 24mm lenses go. It's really a Minolta lens, made to Leica design and QA standards. It's an old design and it shows! Performance isn't bad by industry standards - it just isn't brilliant. I found that the ...
