Description: Model ID A17N / Tamron A017 - Macro zoom lens - 70 mm - 300 mm - f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro - Nikon F / Tamron now offers a lightweight, ... more
Tamron A017 ... compact, high-image-quality telephoto zoom lens with macro capability of 1: 2 that can be used with digital cameras. This new lens is a Di type lens using an optical system with improved multi-coating designed to function with digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras.

With this 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens, flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm obtains a maximum magnification ratio of 1: 2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 37.4", enabling close-up shots of flowers, insects, and other objects that normally require the use of a specially designed macro lens. Moreover, this is a zoom lens that casually offers the distant capture and foreshortening effect pleasures of the 300mm ultra-telephoto world.

... captured was far more than i was expecting. It comes complete with a close up setting which although some would say it is not true macro it does give you the option to get a close up shot. Which is more than good enough for what i need. I have taken this in my camera bag for an all day nature walk i had planed for the last few weeks. Premium Review Tamron A017: Great lens (386 words)

Rating:

This is a great lens and will suite most amateur photographers needs. The detail and sharpness even at full zoom is fantastic even when hand held. The lens itself is light but feels very ruggedly built and is constructed of high quality glass which you would normally only find in more expensive lenses. Tamron have produced a lens that is not going to break the bank to buy and is not going to give you aches and pains carrying it around all day. I took some shots of a jackdaw in the distance and the sharpness of the image it captured was far more than i was expecting. It comes complete with a close up setting which although some would say it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Excellent Telephoto Zoom Lens (150 words)

Rating:

This is an incredible lens. I bought it in a bundle with my Canon EOS 450D. It's first outing was to the Lake District and I must say, it did very well. I was very surprised to see how far it zoomed in and how clear the photos were. I zoomed in to a waterfall on a hill the other side of a lake and the detail it picked up was impressive. For macro shots it performs equally as well, giving explicit detail if held steady. The only thing I would say is that it is definitely better when on a tripod rather than just holding it, because if you are anything like me then you will get camera shake. It is quite a heavy lens so needs holding securely but overall it is very good and ...  Read the complete review
