starshine35 Tamron 172NE: ... 90mm f2.8 Macro is a very sharp lens with 1:1 macro capability. It is one of the sharpest lens in its class. I have had the lens for over 3 years and compared its optical performance with different lens, including some Nikons professional range lens. The lens is always among the top few in sharpness. 90mm focus length is quite useful for both portrait and macro photography. There is almost no distortion which ...

... is a great lens and will suite most amateur photographers needs. The detail and sharpness even at full zoom is fantastic even when hand held. The lens itself is light but feels very ruggedly built and is constructed of high quality glass which you would normally only find in more expensive lenses. Tamron have produced a lens that is not going to break the bank to buy and is not going to give you aches and pains carrying it around all day. I took some shots of a jackdaw in the distance and the sharpness of the image it captured was far more than i was expecting. It comes complete with a close up setting which although some would say it is not true macro it does ...

... have got this lens with a Pentax fix and I am incredibly happy with its performance! I think it has a really impressive range so that you can do some really nice close up shots but also get some nice wide angle shots. Additionally, tamron lenses are made from glass, and although they are a little heavier, I think that you can really notice the difference between the glass and plastic lenses. ... was one of the first of the superzoom lenses, and has been on the market for four years now. It has since been surpassed (from a zoom range point of view) by other lenses including Tamron s new 18-270mm. I ve owned this lens for over two years now, its proved time and time again, how useful a lens with this focal length range can be. The lens is made up of 15 elements in 13 groups, including two low dispersion lenses to reduce chromatic aberration. This complexity is required to achieve the massive 11.1x focal length range. The range of 18-200mm, when adjusted for the Canon and Nikon 1.5/1.6x crop factor cameras gives a 35mm SLR equivalent of about 28-320mm....
