Canon Ixus 70
by addams2000
I love this camera. We had previously purchased a Canon Powershot SD400 and needed a second camera. We tried to purchase the same one, as we had liked it so much, but they had updated it. This camera was the updated version.
Mine looks a bit different from the picture (I have a total silver front, which looks alot nicer) ... and my flash is built in not sticking out.
The camera is a great size, easy to keep in your bag, so you are never without a decent camera.
The 7.1 mega pixels means the pictures are all good quality.
The canon is one of the first cameras I don't ever have problems with blurred pictures, you just point and click.
I would say it is a camera for all types of people as it is so easy to use.
The camera uses a re-chargeable battery pack - the camera comes with the charger. It also comes with a small SD memory card, but this doesn't fit many pictures on. But the memory cards are easy and cheap to buy at lots of different sizes. Read the complete review |

Canon Ixus 70
by cognition
The Canon Ixus 70 is a really compact and light 7.1 Megapixel digital camera, weighing only 125g. It has a 2.5" LCD display, built in flash and built in microphone for the video recording mode. The dimensions are 8.6cm x 1.9cm x 5.4cm.
The camera is incredibly user friendly. It can be used as a "point and click" ... camera using default and automated settings, and the resulting pictrues will almost always look crisp and clear with vibrant colours. If adjustments need to be made, such as turning flash on or off or manually adjusting ISO, this can be done through a few clicks, and the interface is so intuitive, you will never have to look at the manual.
The camera has a face recognitino function, which is active by default. When you point your camera at a group of people, you will notice on the LCD preview screen that all the faces have been automatically recognized, which is symbolized by boxes appearing around faces on the screen. Basically, this is a way for the camera to tell you that these faces have been recognized and will be in focus on the picture. There is also an automatic red eye reduction function.
The camera supports memoery cards of the types: MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card. I personally got myself a 4gb SDHC card, which you can get from £6 and up. This literally allows you to save thousands of pictures on one single card. I've been on several occasions and have not yet had the need to erase my card. For transfering files, a USB cable is included, and a software package, which it is optional to use, although a lot of modern computers come with card readers included.
The battery is a Li-ion rechargeable battery. It's small and detachable, and included with the camera is a charger. The battery takes a couple of hours or so to charge, and I am impressed with how long it lasts! I always bring my charger on vacation, just in case, but if I charge my camera up front, I have never had to charge it while on the move. One downside, though, is that it's hard to tell how much battery life is left until the battery is almost dead.
I paid around £120 for my Canon Ixus 70 about half a year ago, and the price of the camera still seems to hold that value in most shops.
Main selling points of this camera:
-Light, small, compact, portable
-Good battery life
-User friendly
-Quality
-Point and click and get amazing results!

Olympus µ[mju:]ZOOM 140
by iyer86
Olympus launched the µ[mju:] series with the µ[mju:] camera in March 1991, recording total shipments of one million cameras within the first year. The µseries has continued to perform well, with shipments reaching 10 million cameras in February 1998 and 20 million cameras in 2001, the series' 10th anniversary year. The µ series features ... an ultra-compact, lightweight design as well as high-level functionality and exceptional picture quality. To maintain its leadership position in the market for compact cameras, Olympus aspires to develop new products in the µ series that capture the hearts of customers.
Birth of µ[mju:]
The development of the µ camera began with the idea of creating a camera that not only took pictures, but was also a joy to own. The µ series was born with the launch of the µ[mju:] standard autofocus compact camera in March 1991. Based on the concept of "small beauty," the µ series offers a range of ultra-compact, lightweight cameras that are a pleasure to own. These high-performance cameras make it easy to take gorgeous pictures, and their stylish design achieves an aesthetic beauty that enriches the camera owner.
µ[mju:] Series Design
In designing the µ series, Olympus broke from a more traditional approach to camera design, opting instead for a stylish "wave style" design that highlights the camera's portability. The design creates a natural beauty that is perfectly smooth when the lens cover is closed. The styling of the camera's three-dimensional contour considers ergonomic factors that enhance holding comfort. Subsequent models in the µ series continue to uphold the basic concept of the original µ camera.
