Firstly, it needed to be able to take good quality low-light shots. Which it does. I wanted to be able to take it to gigs, where flash photography isn't allowed, and this camera copes very well in those conditions. I also wanted it to be able to take video. Which it does, and it is of a high quality. The controls are easy and quick to use. I ...more

Premium Review Canon Ixus 70: BUY this even though it might be phased out of the market so ... (273 words)

I bought this camera about 2 years back. The sleek and slim design drew me to it plus the quality reviews that canon always get. This was the slimmest ixus in the market at the time that I bought it. First, the camera comes with more accessible function than the previous canon. There are modes such as 'aquarium', 'snow', 'kids and pets' etc to make sure that you have better pictures in more situations. There is also a paranomic function that allows you to stitch the photos together later to form a wide photo. (suitable for those unable to use photoshop). Second, BAttery life is long. I have situations where I was touring the whole day and needed ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Point and click and get amazing results! (445 words)
by - written on 18/11/08 (Very useful, 276 readings)
Rating:

The Canon Ixus 70 is a really compact and light 7.1 Megapixel digital camera, weighing only 125g. It has a 2.5" LCD display, built in flash and built in microphone for the video recording mode. The dimensions are 8.6cm x 1.9cm x 5.4cm. The camera is incredibly user friendly. It can be used as a "point and click" camera using default and automated settings, and the resulting pictrues will almost always look crisp and clear with vibrant colours. If adjustments need to be made, such as turning flash on or off or manually adjusting ISO, this can be done through a few clicks, and the interface is so intuitive, you will never have to look at the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Canon Ixus 70: Attractive, light-weight, high quality compact camera (158 words)
by - written on 04/06/09 (Useful, 34 readings)

An elegant and attractive compact camera that is light, easy to carry around and very easy to use. I bought it last year for a wedding and then promptly lost it. After trying various other cameras, I ended up buying another Canon Ixus! It is a stylish camera with a high quality stainless steel casing. There a small number of easy to use settings and a usable viewing screen. The pictures and video recordings are high quality and perfect for most leisure and business uses. As an estate agent, I have occasionally used it in an emergency for preparing property particulars and found the quality good. Images are sharp (evens at the edges of the picture) and colours strong. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Great camera, great pictures (194 words)

I love this camera. We had previously purchased a Canon Powershot SD400 and needed a second camera. We tried to purchase the same one, as we had liked it so much, but they had updated it. This camera was the updated version. Mine looks a bit different from the picture (I have a total silver front, which looks alot nicer) and my flash is built in not sticking out. The camera is a great size, easy to keep in your bag, so you are never without a decent camera. The 7.1 mega pixels means the pictures are all good quality. The canon is one of the first cameras I don't ever have problems with blurred pictures, you just point and ...  Read the complete review

Canon Ixus 70: Canon IXUS FF (224 words)

This is a smart little APS camera (Advanced Photo System) this basically means that you can take different size photographs. The way it works is you have to change the size by sliding a switch to the desired size such as (P) Panoramic, (C) Classic or (H) H print which is in between. After you do this you can see the new size through the viewfinder. A useful tip is that the clever APS film allows for you to choose at the time of printing what size you would like your prints to be. For example if you have taken many different sized pictures you may want to print them the classic (6x4 inch) size which would be cheaper than panoramic prints. Also if you have taken a picture ...  Read the complete review
