Advantages: Fun, unique, lightweight
Disadvantages: 35mm processing, slightly expensive
The Lomography Supersampler is a great gift to give. It is a toy for the grown up kid inside us all! What makes the 'Supersampler' special is that it is a multi-lensed camera. It has four lenses to be precise!
So, what can you do with a camera with 4 lenses? You can take 4 photos on one frame -that's what you can do!
Take a look at this example from the official website: http://www.lomography.com/ss/galleries/moveyourcam era
It takes four photos in 2 seconds (.50sec/photo) or 4 photos in 0.2 seconds (.05sec/photo). Make your photos come alive, almost like a mini animation! No need to worry about the focus settings (because there arn't any!) and it has a fixed focus of 0.3 meter to infinity.
It is as lightweight as a feather! It is very small 6.5cm (2.5") x 10.15cm (4") and made of plastic. It comes in many colours (hot pink, to pearl, to black), and also limited edition ones by famous artists/designers (Anna Sui, Dalek, MOMA).
This is an outdoor camera, images will be too dark and fuzzy if used indoors. It takes 35mm film, and can be processed at any supermarket/drug store etc (but remember to tell the lab that you are using a supersampler!).
Prices begin at £46.90. I feel it is a lot of money, but it is also a lot of fun!
Summary: A very fun and unique camera!
