Its an awful campsite (Camping les Genets)

I worked on this site in the north Vendee in France for about 2 weeks in summer 06. Its in St Hilaire De Rez and near San Giles.
I was very disappointed when I got there, as the courier live area was tiny, cramped and just unacceptable to live in. The funstation area was also tiny and there was nowhere that we could play large sporting games.
The pool was quite good as it had slides and a good pirate theme. I heard afterwards though that they didnt treat the pool with anything apart from at the start and end of season. So you could be swimming in anything!
There are many companies on this site, including Eurocamp, Keycamp, Kel Air, and the French owners business.
The toilets are outdated and theres no where to hang your clothes. One of the couriers clothes were stolen when she hung them over the door, showing you just what sort of customers come here.
There are a lot of French 'chavs' wandering around this site, not all of them actually staying on it, as the security is useless, anyone can walk in day or night.
One good point is that its a short walk from an amazing beach that is great on sunny days.
Its also near the supermarket, resturants and cafes. Theres also a few surf shops and a tabbac where you can get phone cards, cigarettes and sweets.
The area is quite touristy and there isnt really any rustic french charm, its essentially a beach holiday.
I wouldnt reccomend this site because in my opinion its quite dangerous and attracts nasty characters.
The area isnt safe at night, once we were walking back in a group of girls and there were no street lamps, and a car pulled up alongside full of men. We ignored them and luckily they went away, but I have heard bad things happening to customers and couriers after dark.

Summary: There are so many campsites in this area pick another one!
