Advantages: Ideal situated on the Cote D'Azur
Disadvantages: Can be noisy peak-summer
Located in the heart of the Cote D'Azur, in the pretty beach resort of Frejus and St Raphael, Camping La Baume is possibly one of the largest camping resorts on the French Riviera.
All the major camping companies have reps there - Eurocamp, Keycamp, Canvas and Haven for example. Prices start at between £700-£800 for a tent for a week in mid-July but book promptly as this resort seems to be very popular. You can also book villas and mobile homes direct through the campsite itself.
The resort is located up a hill and not near the beach, which will require a short bus journey or hire car to reach there. However, the campsite itself is huge - with 7 swimming pools, cabarets, entertainers, shops and two magnificant bars....many people choose not to even leave the resort itself. It is clean, well-maintained and attractively landscaped with palms and flora throughout. Shower facilities are extensive and modern.
This is an ideally situated campsite which is equidistant between several major tourist hubs - including Cannes, Monte Carlo, Antibes and Nice; as well as St Tropez, which is a short ferry ride away. The location is probably its biggest draw.
The only downside to the resort is the large numbers of teens that appear to descend on Camping La Baume every summer. It is also quite close to a main motorway, which, if you're unlucky, will with your "emplacement" will keep you awake at night. It isn't going to win any awards for honeymooning couples but is more suited to a family holiday. It can be noisy and boisterous at the best of times. All in all, a delightful resort which boasts a huge range of facilities and a wonderful location.
Summary: A great holiday for famillies
