Advantages: great location, clean facilities, easy to find!

Disadvantages: the underpass into Pisa

I think that's a bit of literal translation but that's what it means basically. I'll only give you one guess at where this Italian campsite is situated. Yes you've guessed it! It's in Pisa. Where else would it be?!

This was the first campsite we stayed at on our camping tour of Italy so we weren't quite sure what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

The campsite is situated just on the edge of the town but is really near the main attractions. It's set on 24,000 square metres of flat shady ground that is fairly grassy. The campsite offers a range of facilities including hot water, free hot showers, bar, pizzeria, restaurant, washing machines (coin operated), childrens playground and free electricity (not much good to us as we were in a tent!).

The toilet facilities were quite good and certainly cleaner than some I visited later on in the holiday. The showers were always clean and each cubicle had a little changing area where you could leave you stuff while you were in the shower. Toilets were plentiful and also clean which makes things so much more pleasant!

The tourist sites of Pisa (i.e. the tower etc) were reached by walking out of the campsite and passing through an underpass. This was a little bit scary at first as the underpass contained the main road into Pisa and was very noisy. There was adequate lighting and the underpass was quite busy but I wouldn't like to walk through it on my own. If you are a single female I think I would find another campsite. We couldn't see an alternative way into the town - the under pass was the only route. Even though the underpass wasn't ideal, getting into town took less than 5 mins. Therefore we ate in town every night and never used the onsite restaurant.

If you were on a camping holiday to Pisa I would recommend this campsite. You can't beat it for situation and, although the facilities aren't as flash
as those at some other campsites, they are perfectly adequate.

I wonder if that is the site I stayed in when I was there. If so it is very convenient.
