Advantages: Great base to explore from.

Disadvantages: To noisy, to unsanitary, run like a cattle market.

I was at Haggerston Castle a couple of years ago. I didnt take my dogs as I was told I couldnt. Our caravan had no nets so we had to keep the curtains closed for privicy. It was freezing cold as it too was heated by just one fire in the lounge area. Our Caravan wasnt dirty but could have been better. It smelled of damp and as it was right at the back of the site by the touring vans pitches i cant imagine it was used much, but at least there it was quiet.
We didnt use the onsite entertainment it was all to noisy, to crowded and way to expencive. We did pay for passes to use the facilities but they were closed more offen than not so that was money well wasted.
The Pool area was disapointing, most of the time it was closed but when it did open it was a haven for foot desease. I would recommend swim socks if you do venture into the pool venue.
Some of the vans around the lake looked devine and the areas around them was well kept, Obviously thats where the money is as the other vans on the site got the grass cut but that was it. The stream running through the camp could have been an asset but was more of a giant litter bin. I dont think David Bellemy would have been so keen to put his name to the place had he seen it when I was there.
The vans were also very close together so you could hear all the going on next door and that was very annoying and at times embarresing.
Good points. It was a great base to explore from. We went over to Holy Island a couple of times which was fantastic and there are some great places to eat. We also went up to Edinburgh for a day, now thats a treat everyone should endulge in.
I would go back with my touring van to use it just for a base to explore from but for anything else I would say look around, there are much nicer places to stay and cheeper.
Sorry Haggerston, you've lost my vote.

Summary: Expencive to visit yet cheep in it care and construction.
