Advantages: quiet, plenty to do, unspoiled

Disadvantages: 3hrs from Calais, long drives to Paris

From Barrow to Dover a drive of six and a half hours, not including stops, stay over at Dover, Ferry over to Calais, then drive three hours to La Croix, where we finally reach our holiday park. Collapse in mobile home with a cup of tea then remember we are in France where milk is not full fat cream like at home, BUT they are forgiven as beer is cheap.

And here we are again back at our favourite place to stay.

As you arrive you are greeted by banks of blooming flowers. You can instantly see that it is a very well maintained campsite, set in beautiful wooded parkland and some accommodation is around the lake. You can take a walk along the riverbank, through the grounds of the château down to the village of Vic-sur-Aisne.

There is both the river and the lake at this site, the River Aisne being a good quality venue in its own right for silverfish plus specimen carp and some cat fish. The on-site lake is heavily stocked, with a number over 30lbs. The lake is 3-4 acres and accessible by all for a walk around, take care with younger children however as the banks slope into the water. Fish to catch are big carp, roach, and sturgeon.

On site there are many activities to offer
Tennis and table tennis
Bar, restaurant, take-away
Boating
Bicycle Hire
Hot showers, washing and drying machines
Ironing facilities
Currency exchange and postal services
Telephones
Safety deposit boxes
Shop

There is even a bus service to Euro Disney.

The whole park has a quite feel to it which calms you and makes you feel relaxed. Most holiday homes have sun loungers, chairs and tables so you can relax outside your home and each is encased with a garden and bushes so you feel you have your own space.
As well as fishing on the lake there are canoes and pedaloes and for hire and rowing boats.

There are three swimming pools, one for the babies, a large one fr families and these are inside, but be wa
rned theroof can be removed on hot days, and there are two divided pools outside which might say they are heated but I still find coooold.
The slide is a twisty one which ends up in its own pool so you dont have to look out for people landing on your head!!!

You can buy a card which is stamped each time you use it for the sport, we use ours up every night on the go-karting, isn?t fast enough to warrant hats and safety gear but the adults love them, the poor kids queue for hours?there is also a mini trampoline or three for some tiring out of children and all over the park are spaced out play areas.
You can hire bicycles to use in the park or around the surrounding villages.

The roundabout comes to life at night as it lights up and twinkles away for a couple of hours but was quite expensive last time we were there.

There is an onsite shop but we only used to for fresh baked bread the village is a walk away so we used to frequent there. Even the supermarket has a park to play in for children and dads!!!!!

The horse stables are walked by on the way back to the site and they look so happy and not ill treated, hard to believe they eat these beautiful animals.

The only problem with the place is the heat, the cakes look delicious till you remember they don?t have fresh cream, if they did they would be to die for, still hubby likes them so he puts on a few pounds and makes me feel less chubby hehehehe.

The reception area is manned by bilingual people so you will be understood whether you want tokens for the laundrette, a security box, fishing licence or directions. The individual holiday reps had boards outside their reception areas which list attractions for the day and what?s going on around the night time, so you don?t miss local fairs or attractions.

An ideal holiday place to relax until the day you set off for Euro Disney, but that?s a whole different opinion!!!
