Par Sands markets itself as the quiet family park on the beach. There is no doubt that Par Sands beach could once have been beautiful but that beauty has been stripped away by a huge factory which runs along one side of it. When you compare the actual view with the brochure with its carefully selected cropping of the photographs you cannot help being very disappointed.

The factory is still working and produces a processed aggregate from a locally mined stone. The process does involve the emission of huge clouds of smoke or vapour which on a nice day can spoil the clear sky and, I suppose, if the wind direction were right could obscure the sun. The beach is quite wide and very clean and the sea slopes in gently so it can be safe but care should always be taken on any beach however safe it looks.
Par Sands could be a good site however it is not just this blot on the landscape which spoils it. The site is reasonably well set out but in the camping and caravanning area things are a bit too cramped and there is little playing area for children to play close to the tent or caravan so they can be seen. Facilities like the toilet blocks, number of water taps and the electric hook-up points are all adequate but perhaps not as modern or plentiful on the better sites.

There is a swimming pool but this is too small, it is little more than a splash pool. The bowling green and tennis courts were good but the crazy golf was poorly maintained. You can hire bikes including those fun four seaters where elder children can frighten the life out of their parents by taking them for a spin (literally). The park has a shop which was not very good and there is a pleasant lake area on the approach to the site. There are good coastal walks or cycle rides from the site.
It is a good place to tour Cornwall from but there are better locations. The opening of the Eden Project nearby will help draw people to the site but I wonder how many repeat visitors they get.

Caravan Holiday Homes are available for hire also.
