Advantages: Car park adequate

Disadvantages: Railway not working and no animals yet and no date of when they will be there - just a vague 2009

We went a couple of weeks after Easter, so expected everything to be open. But no! The railway was closed and the promised animals didn't exist yet! We thought, that as it was after Easter, and, it is usual for most attractions start fully at Easter, that everything would be open. It is unusual to charge full price when things are not fully operational. Of the attractions that were there - there weren't many swings and slides - there was only one tractor for the children to explore - and there were just three diggers in the sand. We, therefore, we felt the amount of equipment was very poor. For four adults and an eighteen month old it cost us £25. The final straw was that we couldn't even buy an ice cream cone (cornetto) - they had sold out of every flavour - and so early in the season!

Summary: Very disappointing

I rather share your sentiment. We have just come back and everything was open but I couldn't help but feel we'd just paid a lot of money for something we could have done for free. We'd gone with the intention of this being "our park" for the year and purchasing season tickets based on the website... the reality was not quite the same and so the season tickets were not purchased.

In comparison with other parks such as alton towers, beale park etc which are charity run, wellington country park is privately run and is after all a country park and not aimed to provide the facilities that alton towes etc provide. On arrival we noticed on the welcome board that the animal park was opening later in the year and the train was closed due to an accident as the board stated. Overall we had a lovely day out and I think it was def worth the money as it is a privately run park. Kids really enjoyed the day out lots to do and see, looking forward to the following events coming up including the dog display keep updated on the events on there website www.wellington-country-pa rk.co.uk
