Advantages: Comfortable, easy to inflate/deflate, compact, robust.

Disadvantages: None

We try to go camping about twice every year for some 'family-bonding' as they like to call it. In the past we just slept in sleeping bags inside our tents, which happened to be extremely uncomfortable especially when your sleeping bag resembles the thickness of a sheet of paper. My dad used to tell us we were too fussy and since it was camping it should be expected, this was rich coming from the person who quickly claimed the best and most cushiony sleeping bag.

A few months back it was time for yet another camping trip - hooray. I decided I'd like perhaps to get some sleep this time round and bought a Campingaz Single airbed from Amazon for around £10.

The parcel came just in time for our camping trip but I didn't have enough time to try it out before we left. On the drive, having nothing better to do, I opened the package to look at its contents. The smaller than I had imagined box contained the blow-up airbed and also a handy repair kit. When we eventually arrived at our destination, time was getting on a bit so we set up camp straight away.

I enthusiastically began blowing up my airbed, which is done by simply attaching an electric/battery operated pump and within minutes it should be fully inflated, luckily for me alls we had was a manual pump that took a good hour of hard labour. On the box it says the product has an airtight system which includes a double lock valve to prevent any unwanted air being lost during adding and removing the pump. Thankfully I managed to squeeze the bed into our tent, which measured 188cm in length, 74cm in width and 19cm depth.

After all that strenuous labour I was absolutely exhausted and thought it was a good time to test my airbed. The bed was firm and the internal coil structure meant the bed was quite bouncy also :). The bed is made of a durable PVC material, that is comfortable to lie on without the need of sheets and isn't slippy.

I never lost one wink of sleep throughout the entire trip- in fact I don't think I've ever slept quite so well (on a camp trip), I didn't even need to pump extra air into the bed which is usually the case. The bed is easily deflated, though it's a bit of a challenging having to put it back in its box. I have since lent it to others who have gone camping and continue to take it on our camping trips, even at home it has its uses and is kept for a spare bed when friends or family come round. Definitely recommend this purchase!

Summary: For some camping comfort :)
