Campingaz Single Airbed
Advantages: Easy to inflate, non slip material, thick PVC
One night my daughter had a nightmare when she was in her room. I think because we had just moved and she was in a new room she was a little bit scared regardless of her having all her stuff with her. She was absolutely hysterical and refused to go back into her room for a good week. It wasn't worth upsetting her about it as she was just getting into an absolute state so we let her stay in our room for a few days. The only problem was we couldn't let her sleep in our bed with us as there wasn't enough room so we decided to get her a little airbed to go down the side of our bed.
After a quick visit to Tesco we found a single campbed for £4.97 - bargain. We were not planning on using it long anyway so we didn't want to fork out shedloads of money on it.
When we got it home we found that it was blue in colour with a velour fabric on one side. The velour fabric is an anti slip fabric so you don't slip and slide all over the place at nighttime but I made it up like a proper bed with sheets and a duvet for her so she didn't actually sleep on the velour bit.
The bed is made of a very thick type of PVC which is apparantly highly resistant against punctures. I haven't seen any punctures yet but will update if it does ever happen!
We pumped this bed up with an electric pump which had it up and ready in less than a minute. We were very prepared that we may have to pump it up again as airbeds are notorious for going down. Also because you inflate the bed yourself you can decide how hard or soft you want it.
It looked very much like a single bed mattress but a little bit more narrow and it measured 188cmx73cm when inflated. As it was that little bit narrow, my husband and I rolled up a spare duvet and put it down the gap that there was between the bed and the wall so she couldn't roll off of it.
Surprisingly, after my daughter laying on it, bouncing on it and sleeping on it for 8 days this bed did not go down in any way, shape or form which I was left astounded by. After doing a little bit of a read, I found out that this bed has a double lock valve which is supposed to really lock and seal the air in.
My daughter really loved the air bed (and being in Mummy & Daddy's room!). She eventually went back to her own room on the promise that as a treat she could occassionally sleep on the air bed and have a "sleepover" with Mummy & Daddy like Peppa Pig & Suzy Sheep!
For £4.97, this airbed was an absolute bargain and it is very handy too for when we have guests over. Definately a must buy.
