Campingaz Single Airbed
Advantages: Great durability, set-up and nights sleep!
Disadvantages: None I know of.
With summer now finally upon us, and the music festival season only just getting into full swing, there's no better time to consider buying good quality camping gear, at good quality prices. But what makes an enjoyable camping experience? Well, in recent years I've made do with a double layer of roll mat slumped over the tents ground mat for a mattress - and unless suitably intoxicated, this proves very uncomfortable. So, my first piece of advice is, buy an air-bed!
I received two 'Campingaz Single Air-beds' as part of a package deal when I purchased my two-man tent from Blacks in Nottingham. To be used for camping by a local lake on several sunny evenings of the summer break, I couldn't have asked for a better collection of items to carry out the task at hand! Although the tent is reasonably small, the air-beds fit neatly inside the main compartment, and at roughly 6-feet in length, they suit the majority of users well.
How do you use the bed?
Setting up the air-bed couldn't be simpler. Attaching a supplied foot-pump (or any standard sized pump) you fill the bed with air through several different opening points in the fabrics exterior. I wouldn't advise pumping the bed by blowing into it like a balloon, not only will this take far longer, its doubtful that you will be able to fill the bed with a sufficient pressure of air. When the bed feels firm and you have tested that it doesn't deflate by lying on it in a dignified fashion, you are ready to place it inside your tent!
I find the task of inflating this product very quick and satisfactory. On some other models I've had the privilege of owning, filling them with air can prove incredibly frustrating and time-consuming. Being quick to assemble, the 'Campingaz' air-bed leaves you with time to put up your tent and collect fire wood before dark!
How is the nights sleep?
I've tried out the beds once. Pitching the tent on relatively level ground (...littered with bumps and roots) we managed to camp the full distance of the night and the beds were pretty comfortable. The main thing is getting used to the difference in texture and flexibility with the bed in comparison with yours at home. This can be quite tricky, but after that you'll find drifting off to a peaceful sleep as easy as any other night - regarding you're not an insomniac (...which I believe is unlikely on a site like Dooyoo!).
Waking up in the morning may be a delirious experience for some, but once you get your bearings you realise that you didn't fall off the bed or find yourself constantly re-positioning throughout the night - job done, time for some fishing!
What is the quality of the product like?
I can see this product being long-lasting. It seems reliable and durable enough. The only danger with regards to it standing the test of time is in the way you store it. If it's not properly folded up and placed in a bag/box away from the rusty nails and seeping damp of the garage, a slow event involving product penetration or interior perspiration could destroy the item!
The final word.
A great purchase with my tent package, but an equally great purchase on its own. These are very cheap at roughly £10 per inflatable, and will suit every camper (...given that to be a camper you must be able to withstand some discomfort!). I highly recommend this product!
Summary: Get camping everyone, and don't forget your air-beds!
