Last year as a little nic nak, my husband bought me this Highlander Folding seat mat, for me to use when we go out walking and want to sit down for a break or for something to eat and there are no seats. My husband has had a folding seat mat from a different brand for years and he has very kindly let me use it when we have been out walking. So, probably in a bid to get his own seat back from me, he bought me my own version- this Highlander folding sit mat, which I noticed you can pick up for under a fiver on the likes of amazon.
Highlander is a name I am familiar with as I have another folding camping seat from their range, and I was always happy with the quality of the item. This mat comes in different colours and my husband got me one in a khaki shade. These seats are designed to fold up small so they can be slotted into a rucksack when you are out walking. Many a time, I have used my husband's seat to protect my bum when sitting down on a jaggy wall, or even on the ground, and they really do help give you some padding!
The thickness of this mat is slightly better than my husband's but it folds down just as small. Alhtough we don't go walking as much or as far now that we have a young child, we do still try and get out walking, and so bringing these folding seat mats is essential, although now my husband ends up giving it to my daughter, so he still has to share!
I have used this mat to sit on damp ground, as well as jaggy stone covered walls, and on both occasions I was kept dry and relatively comfy (the jaggy wall was hard to overcome!), I'm not sure if it would survive being put on very soggy ground, but then again, if we were out walking, we probably wouldn't be stopping in that kind of weather, but as I said, it does stand up to damp ground, and keeps you bum dry and comfy. I also used this mat whilst we spent a few nights camping this summer and used it to kneel on when I was cooking on the stove, and it also worked well for that, protecting my knees.
All in all, I am very happy with this folding seat. It is thicker than my husband's seat from a different company, and it keeps my bum dry and protected when we are out and need a seat. It also means you can make a picnic almost anywhere as you can carry these as your seats. I would very much recommend this to anyone who likes walking, as it folds up very small and we wouldn't go walking without ours now.
