      A high-quality, well-made thermos

I go hiking in woodland quite often and, although I love the great outdoors, I also like a good hot drink now and again. After a bit of searching I came across this Thermos Stainless King Flask in Argos for £24.99. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but as I had a voucher and it looked great quality I decided to buy it anyway!

The thermos is made of stainless steel in a plain black colour described as "midnight blue" with a contrasting shiny silver lid and logo across the front. There is also a red colour available. As far as thermos' go it looks pretty good and is definitely well-made but most importantly it is functional. Mine gets knocked around a lot in my rucksack and has been dropped plenty of times and somehow still looks as good as new - the stainless steel is resistant against dents and has even been described as "virtually unbreakable". In fact the manufacturer is so confident they even provide a lifetime guarantee! The thermos measures 31.5 (H) x 9 (W) x 12 (D) cm and weighs 680 g. It is not particularly compact but this is countered by its capacity to hold 1200ml of liquid. Also, despite its bulkiness, it is lightweight even when full to the top.

The flask is supposed to keep drinks either hot or cold for as long as 24 hours using "extreme heat retention technology" including the Thermax double-walled insulation. I usually use my flask for hot drinks like tea or coffee for when I'm out walking in the countryside in the winter and 4-5 hours is typically the time I need my drinks to stay hot for. This flask is absolutely brilliant in this respect and everytime I've used it I've found my drinks to be not just lukewarm but good and steaming hot. Occasionally, I'll put cold drinks in and the thermos is equally good at keeping them chilled. I've also tested it out with soup a couple of times and these have also been kept warm so no complaints there. The twist and pour stopper can be secured tightly and stops it from leaking. It also makes it really convenient to get the drink out quickly and easily. The insulated cup holds a generous amount of liquid and is easy to hold and grip.

The only drawback is that it can be a bit of pain to clean and keep clean - especially when using it for soup - as it has to be done manually without a dishwasher.

Overall, I've been really impressed by the durability and efficiency of this thermos and I'm so glad I paid that bit extra for it. I'm pretty sure that it will last me for many years and it does an absolutely perfect job at keeping drinks at just the right temperature. I would definitely recommend.
