“ Manufacturer: Vango / Type: Chair „
My husband is very into camping and when we decided to go camping together as a family with our young daughter last summer, my husband had brought his cheap camping chair that he had only bought a couple of months previously to the trip. Well, on the last day of our camping stay, the chair bit the dust, and my husband insisted that never again would he buy a cheap camping chair, and instead asked me to hunt online for a better seat for him - a branded seat in fact (a bit snobby!). I happened to have an amazon voucher at the time, and I purchased this Vango Malibu chair, which cost around £25 pound at the time, and obviously less with my voucher. I knew my husband would be pleased as he is a fan of the Vango range and we have other camping stuff from this range - including our new family tent!
This chair comes in a variety of colours, but at the time, it was actually cheaper to purchase the Moss coloured green chair and I knew it wouldn't fuss my husband when it came to colour. This chair claims to be made from ripstop polyester in order to increase durability, and obviously this is rather important when this is your main seat apart from the ground (!) to relax on when camping. Like a lot of other chairs, there is a cup holder space in the arm, which is quite useful for placing a secure bottle - I don't know I would trust a hot drink. The steel frame is meant to be stable and this is a folding chair so can be put away fairly small, which is ideal for us, when we don't have a lot of room with all the other camping stuff we seem to own. My husband likes the fact that on the back of the chair, there is a little pocket where you can store the likes of the cover that you fold the chair away in.
There is no doubt that the material alone, as well as the padded arm rests are superior quality to the cheap camping chair my husband had previously bought. It does seem pretty durable and my husband has tested it out when we've been away for a picnic or for a weekend away, and he is very happy with how comfortable it is for a camping chair. I have sat in it myself and although a camping chair is never going to be a match for a proper comfy chair, it is very nice to sit in and relax.
All in all, my husband believes paying the extra for this chair is worth it. There is a difference in the quality, and I do think there is a lot more durability with this chair. It is more costly that I myself would usually consider paying for a chair, but my husband is blinded by the brand 'Vango' and thinks it is worth every penny.
Being a leader in Scouts, we don't get many chances to sit down. Actually, the amount of times where we've got to about 10pm and had the sudden realisation that it's the first time we've sat down that day is scary. So when we do get the chance it's nice to get some real comforts.
Ok so it's not a sofa, however the padding throughout the chair is better than any other I have come across. Unlike other chairs, there's padding at all the main points along the spine and bottom, supporting you in the most important places. The legs are sturdy too, with a cross design at the base rather than simply having four legs with a horizontal support. This makes the design of the chair a lot sturdier, which is much needed for heavy slumping!
The chair comes in two colours, green (moss) or navy blue - both very practical for camping as they don't show the dirt quite so quickly as others. It also has a mug holder which as far as I am concerned is a must have for any camp chair, and this can hold a generous sizes travel mug (I have known some which can't).
Last but not least the chair is reasonably light considering the padding involved, and folds up with ease into it's own carry case. You can pick up this design at a few camping stores, I got mine for £12.99 in the sale which was an absolute bargain. The material is extremely durable as well as comfortable and I can see that it will last me for many camps to come.
The Malibu Chair, from the Vango Camping Furniture range is a comfortable folding chair with armrests and an insulated cup holder. It is made from a tough ripstop polyester fabric and has 16mm steel tube framing.
