Every now and then a new gimmick or gadget comes on to the market. Doesn’t matter if it’s a new fast food product, a 10% brighter lightbulb or a device that you fit to your car that ‘miraculously’ improves all kinds of things. The one thing that these newfangled products usually have in common is that they end up being complete and utter rubbish that make a quick fortune from the gullible people of the world. So when my eye was drawn (just to point out, I have two eyes, it’s just the way I’ve written it like that) to an advert in Revs magazine I had to look closer but carefully. A new device was available that lowered ...  Read the complete review

Is it all it claims to be? (849 words)

I was quite surprised when my Dad pointed out an advert for this 'All Singing, All Dancing' device. He's usually sceptical about things that claim promises of 'better this, cleaner that' but after a few of his motoring magazines had reviewed the CB-26P favourably, he was suitably intrigued and had asked me to look at the company's website to find out more. This is a really interesting little device – like anything ‘new’ it has courted its fair share of controversy as reading some of the reviews on this site will show. What you need to know is that it can make a significant difference to some cars and is well worth considering as a performance modification on its own. Available only for petrol engines, the way it works is by collapsing the manifold vacuum on over-run which creates a better mixture when the throttle is re-applied – thus improving throttle response. It also causes an element of off-throttle turbulence as used in the latest Ford and Mercedes high performance engines – this helps improve and smoothen ...  Read the complete review

Ecotek's a winner.... (145 words)

I have had the Ecotek fitted to my last three cars, Mazda, Mondeo and Rover and found that the Ecotek improves the economy by around 8 or 9% on average, more on longer runs and obviously less when driven enthusiastically!! But, when driving enthusiastically, response is improved and the engine picks up more cleanly - the engine seems more free revving throughout the rev range. I've recommended it to friends who were initially sceptical but now they all have them fitted to their cars and they have experienced similar benefits - in some cases better economy than me. Although I'm no technical expert, fitting wasn't too hard either (if you ...  Read the complete review
