I love to keep my car smelling fresh, so I always ensure I have an air freshener in there. I tend to prefer fruity smells so when I came across the Jelly Bean range in Halfords, I just had to try it.
They cost in the region of £4 each, which is a little expensive compared to other car fresheners however I have found that the fragrance from these is not as overpowering and they seem to last a good few months. The air fresheners are available from most large supermarkets, Amazon and direct from the manufacturer.
The air freshener itself is in the shape of a large jelly bean and look like it is filled with a bright blue liquid. On one side, it has the company logo on in white writing. Like most car air fresheners, it has a piece of string hanging from one end so that you can hang it where you like. As soon as you remove from the packaging, the sweet juicy fragrance ‘hits you’ (I would say try and touch the bean itself once removed from the packaging as little as possible otherwise the fragrance does transfer to your hands). My other half commented he felt the fragrance was a little too sweet however I love sweet smells so we had to disagree on this one.
These are several different fragrances available, Very Cherry, Juicy Pear, Tangerine, Blueberry, Tutti Frutti and Bubblegum. You can also buy aerosol air fresheners in the same fragrances. I have only tried the blueberry fragrance but will definitely be trying the others soon.
Overall, 5 out of 5 stars from me and I would definitely recommend.
I decided to choose a Jelly Belly air freshener for my car instead of the trees as I think the tree's loose their smell very quickly. I hesitated paying £3 for this item but actually I'm very happy I did. I picked the blue one as it matched the colour of my car. I wasn't sure I was going to like the smell of the blueberry but in matter of fact I did. It was not a very sweet strong smell that I had expected. It was strong enough to fill my car with the scent but I did not find it to be over powering. Unfortunately I have not tried any other flavours and don't know what they smell like. I did look at candle ones of these and found them to be way to strong, the ones for the car are not that sweet smelling which is good as I think the candles would give me a headache!! I found the air freshener to last much longer than all the others I use and even after a month when I thought I couldn't smell it anymore people still got into my car saying it smelt nice. Maybe I just got used to the scent in the end. After using the Jelly Belly air fresheners I would not go back to any other ones. I think they are well worth the price!!
The Air freshener itself is shaped like a jelly bean. It is a squidgy freshener in like a silicone case. It has a plastic clear hook at the top which makes it easy for you to attach to your mirror. You can also buy the paper scented Jelly Belly like the Tree's. These are also cheaper however when I bought this one I found the smell did not last as long that's why I've now gone back to the silicone ones.
One tip I would suggest is to not buy them in Halfords as they are nearer £4. I get mine in Tescos or sometimes Wilkinsons, these have always been £3 each.
Everybody has the same problems with their car; we all do it - the odd Mcdonalds here, football kits (Sweaty Socks), tip run every now and then. But having the Jelly Belly Car Freshener I have no worries about the smell, I am happy for anyone to get in my car and I know it will always smell delicious.
My car continually smells sweet and delicious no matter how many weeks that little bean has been hanging off my rear view mirror. I love that people get it to my car and say how nice it smells, time after time. All this for only £2.99, just amazing!
The range of scents that they do are brilliant and all equally as good, I have never had any other car freshener that has lasted as long as this. Not only does it smell good but looks great too, the cool 'Bean' shape that is 3D is so unique, like no other.
It is money very well spent in my opinion, you can place them in the boot, under the seats or hang them up. They can also be placed around the house, in your bedroom etc and I am sure they will smell equally as good. The hook that is attached to the bean makes this very versatile.
Whenever my car gets a clean, I always treat it to a new Jelly Belly Freshener - I think my car enjoys it as much as me.
My car is always bombarded with daily use and can sometimes be subjected to all kinds of smells! We sometimes eat in the car from a McDonalds drive thru as a treat, and all kinds of smells may waft about from daughter's stinky poops (not mine of course!) to my spare shoes I always leave under the seat. So I always take it to a car wash for a thorough internal and external clean and they usually give me a complimentary air freshener tree which never last long, so last week when I was in Asda they had these jelly bean air fresheners for £3 (I actually thought it was £2 and realised it was actually £3 when I got home and checked my receipt!) so I scooped up the apple and pear scent and popped it in my trolley.
The air freshener is shaped exactly like a jelly bean and is like a silicone pad almost, quite flat but with a type of hard waxy substance, and in my apple and pear scent it is green. It comes initially attached inside a rectangular shape of flat cardboard and inside a plastic wrapper, and once unwrapped it instantly has a strong scent that fills the car! I absolutely love mine seeing as as soon as you open it the scent emanates out and is very sweet and deep and gives my car a lovely fresh and appealing smell!
The air freshener comes attached with a plastic hook making it ideal and easy to hang from my rear view mirror as any other normal air freshener does. I have had it about a week now and my car still smells absolutely lovely and fresh and this is the most long lasting air freshener that I have had! The apple and pear scent smells absolutely yummy and I look forward to getting in my car just to smell it as it reminds me of an apple scented shower gel, or literally an apple scented candle and although there is no smell which resembles pear at all I don't even mind!
These also come in the following scents :Blueberry, Tangerine and Very Cherry. They look really cute and fruity hanging from the rear view mirror and I definitely recommend it as it smells great, really fills the car with a nice scent and are the longest lasting air freshener I have had to date. I will be looking out for this next time my car could do with some freshening up!
I love Jelly Belly's range of body sprays and candles as the scents are mouth watteringly gorgeous, so when I saw the Jelly Belly air freshener on Amazon around three weeks ago I decided to buy it for my boyfriend's car to replace the one that we'd had in there for absolutely ages as it had lost its scent so was pointless.
I purchased mine from Amazon purely because I had some voucher money to use up. It can also be purchased directly from the official Jelly Belly website as well as a number of supermarkets. Prices range from £3 to around £5 per air freshener depending on where you purchase it from and I paid a reasonable £3.27 including delivery, which I think is a bargain as it's lasted well so far and smells heavenly!
There are a range of different scents to choose from, most of which are fruity (eg blueberry, tangerine, cherry etc) and there's also tutti frutti and bubblegum scented ones too. Had I not tried the bubblegum fragranced candle from Jelly Belly beforehand, I would of chosen this as it is the most unique, however as I knew that I didn't like the scent, I opted for blueberry instead. This is described as an authentic jelly belly scent.
The scent is quite a strange (but pleasant) one - you can definitely tell that it's blueberry scented and it's lovely and sweet. It has a very fresh and fruity smell which is lovely at first but the more you smell it, it begins to smell a little weird - it has a slightly fake and somewhat strange undertones to it, which makes me a little paranoid when my daughter is in the car as I don't want her to be breathing in chemicals, although the 'fake' scent isn't so strong that I feel like it's overpowering.
The smell is very strong and it fills the car up with the scent quickly. It took around three days before we started getting used to it and although it was very strong at first, it was nice to open the car door and be greeted with a fresh, fruity scent - it's really refreshing and uplifting in my opinion and as it's a fruity scent it is also quite a summery fragrance.
The air freshener its self is basic in appearence. It's 3D and shaped like a giant belly bean and it's blue in colour with the white Jelly Belly logo clearly displayed. It's made of gel and is quite fun looking, which could be a disadvantage if you have young, curious kids in the car as it could be easily mistaken for a toy. The product can be hung up onto the rear view mirror easily due to the piece of string attatched to the top. It stays in place securely and doesn't flay around at all, nor does it interfere with the mirror view.
We've had this air freshener for around 2 and a half weeks now and the smell is still pretty strong. It lingers in the car and even when it was so hot that we left the car windows slightly open overnight the smell hadn't drifted away and was strong as ever. Both me and my boyfriend like the scent and even one of my boyfriends friends likes it - he got into the car and asked if we'd been eating sweets and could he have one, when in fact it was the air freshener! This in my opinion is a really fun alternative to the usual tree air fresheners and it smells gorgeous. It's very effective and long lasting, and I highly reccomend this brand of air freshener.
I recently bought a new vw golf as my old golf gave up and had to be sent to scrappy heaven, My new car has only had one previous owner and only 15,000 miles on the clock. The car was valeted before I picked it up from the garage but I could smell cigarette smoke in the car after a few days, the fabreeze the garage used must have worn off. Being a non smoker I don't like the smell and headed to halfords to buy a air freshener for the car.
Halford had a huge choice of air fresheners but I knew I wanted the Jelly Belly air freshener as soon as I seen it. I paid £3.50 for it but since bought another one from Amazon for much cheaper £2.50, and Amazon offered free postage. Www.amazon.co.uk
The air freshener came in a card board packaging with a plastic covering that preserved the air fresheners scent. The packaging came with instructions and had small jelly belly sweeties on the packaging. It was easy to open the packaging and I recycled the packaging in my blue bin.
I bought the very cherry air freshener but there is a huge choice of scents to choose from and I am positive there is one for everyone's taste. I chose the cherry because its one of my favourite sweets from jelly belly. The air freshener is made from a plastic silicon like material and come with a attached hook so you can hang it from your car mirror or air vents. The air freshener looks like a flattened jelly bean shape and has the jelly belly logo on it in white writing, the air freshener is bright red in colour.
The scent is very cherry and smells like sweet cherry's! The scent smelt quite over powering for the first week but I either got used to the strong smell or it settled down. I often get head aches from the magic tree air fresheners as I find them so strong smelling but the jelly belly did not give me a head ache. The air freshener lasted me 3 months before I found I couldn't smell it as much and I then replaced it with another jelly belly air freshener It masked the smoke smell in the car but after a few good deep cleans I think I managed to get rid of the smoke from the cars interior. It looked funky for a air freshener and I had lots of compliments from friends on the air freshener everybody liked the smell of it.
I will be buying more in the near future when my latests one needs replaced, I found them cheaper on amazon so I will be buying it from them, I have nothing negative to report on the jelly belly air freshener.
I usually use the Magic Tree range of car air fresheners, but have noticed the initial aroma from them is upsetting my asthma recently. I needed a change before becoming hospitalised due to the magic of Magic Tree so when I saw a selection of Jelly Belly car fresheners in Morrisons I chose a Very Cherry one with which to scent the air in my car.
This is a jelly bean shaped air freshener, it's made of a soft plastic and filled with what looks and feels like gel. It's very squishy to the touch, although the seams seem to be very secure so I doubt there is much chance of this scented gel escaping. I noticed during this week that the air freshener becomes extremely soft when enclosed in a very hot car; admittedly I suspect this will not be a problem for some months now, but I did feel it could maybe cause some leakage should the plastic be too vigorously handled while in this very soft state.
The aroma from this air freshener is a delight, there are no noxious fumes released to cause problems with my asthma despite the initially very strong fruity smell. Without being aware of the specific aroma this air freshener is I would know it was certainly a cherry scent, the moniker of Very Cherry is exceedingly accurate. It's very fruity but also has a sweet base which transforms the overall aroma into something far more reminiscent of candies than fruit, in fact I would say this aroma is the quintessential scent of cherry flavoured sweets such as Cherry Drops or even certain brands of cherry flavoured pop/juice.
I do not drive often due to eyesight problems so only get into my car once or twice a week, for this reason I have not developed any tolerance for the fragrance and therefore can still smell the delicious cherry scent quite strongly despite it being almost a month since I first hung it from my rearview mirror. I would say the level of fragrance has surely lessened since that day, but personally I am thus far impressed with its longevity.
I would recommend visiting Morrisons if you would like to try this excellent air freshener for yourself as here they are currently priced at just £1.99 each, whereas you can expect to pay £3.49 in other outlets. There were a further three scents to choose from, these being pear, blueberry and tangerine - unfortunately it's not possible to sample the fragrance before purchasing your car air freshener, I have heard some packages feature a 'scratch and sniff' panel on the cardboard outer but this wasn't the case with mine.
I would highly recommend this Jelly Belly product as an alternative to other car freshening products. It's fun and functional, which is more than can be said for the majority of automotive accessories.
I love jelly beans and think they taste delicious. Therefore when I saw this product at Selfridges I couldn't resist buying one. The trouble was deciding which one! I had the choice between cherry, blueberry and pear however I've noticed a couple of other ones to choose from online. To help you decide which one you want, there is a little scratch and sniff panel on the front of the packaging!
*Price and availability*
I paid £4.99 from Selfridges in Manchester. They are widely available online and priced between £3.00 and £4.99. You only get one in the pack though so they are quite expensive.
The car air freshener is cleverly shaped like the jelly bean. You can have the design in 2D which comes as a little fibre board which is standard for all car air fresheners and the fragrance is impregnated in the fibres. The one I bought was the 3D one which is made from gel and looks really funky. At the top; as is with most air fresheners, is a plastic hanger which simply hooks over the plastic on your rear view mirror. You can also use this hanger to attach it to the air vents using a piece of string if you are not a fan of dangly things.
Saying this is hangs at reasonable length and doesn't get it the way much. The instructions state that you should avoid it having contact with any surface, whether plastic or material as it could stain.
It looks really cool hung up; I chose the Cherry one because I have a red car and thought it looked good together.
I'm not a big fan of air fresheners on the whole as I was put off by those cheap trees that smelt revolting. This one is really delicious and smells great; sweet and fruity but without being sickening. It is quite overwhelming at first but soon settles down and it lasted about a month. Although two months later I can still smell it when I step in the car.
I love the air fresheners, this particular one smells delicious and nothing like any air freshener I've had before. I love the design and think that it is a novel idea.
I would certainly buy them again as I think they look great but at £4.99 a time it is a little bit excessive! I will have to shop around and try and get one a little bit cheaper.
I always like having a funky air freshener in the car, from a little furry "ugg" boot to a cute Hello Kitty one. A few months ago I was in Asda and they had a special offer on a car air freshener and as the one I had in at the time was starting to fade I decided to pick one up. The range on offer was the Jelly Belly Bean air freshener.
Jelly Belly are most famous for their Jelly Belly beans but they now sell many different items including candy canes, candles, mugs and car air fresheners. I absolutely love the beans sweets and candy canes so I thought this was an ideal thing to buy. There was several varieties of flavours available at the time. I chose the Blueberry flavour, much to my daughters disgust as she wanted me to buy the pink one!
The air fresheners are a gel/plastic 3D design and come sealed in a plastic cover on a cardboard backing. The cover is see through so you can see the air freshener in full and the shape is a jelly bean. In large lettering on the bean you will see Jelly Belly on one side. The packaging is covered in various jelly beans in all different colours and the flavour is shown in a large colour border at the top. On the packaging you will find a small scratch and sniff area so you can smell the flavours before choosing the one for you.
Hanging the air freshener in the car couldn't be more simple, attached to the jely bean is a plastic hanger which simply hooks over the plastic on your rear view mirror and thats it! The jelly bean hangs down a reasonable length though it isn't so much that it gets in the way of your view of the road. I personally think it is the perfect length for me though my dad gets a little irritated by its swinging when he is driving the car.
I put the jelly bean in the car as soon as we came out of Asda and the scent was detectable immediately, so much so that when my mum came back after putting the trolley away she could smell it as soon as she opened the door. The smell of the jelly bean is just so sweet and fruity, it really does smell good enough to eat. Every time I got into the car after that it just smelt amazing, much nicer than any other air freshener I have ever had and it lasted for a long time. It's only now, just over three months down the line that I am struggling to smell it, though other people who travel in the car have said they can still smell it well enough.
The range of flavours in the Jelly Belly air fresheners is really quite good, such as bubblegum, very cherry, tangerine, blueberry, juicy pear, and tutti frutti. As I have only had the chance of smelling the blueberry I can't comment on how the others smell but going off the one I have I am sure they will smell as delicious and fruity.
The price I paid for the Jelly Belly air freshener was just £2 and I think that it was a bargain because it really did make the car smell fantastic, lasted a long time and is a nice quirky thing to have hanging from the rear view mirror. I will be buying another very soon, in fact I may even look on Ebay after writing this review and choosing a new one - but it will have to be pink to please my little girl! I have to say that I think these are more of a female thing than a male thing as my dad and brother really don't like them, but thats not to say all men will be the same!
Thank you for reading my review.
I bought one of these for my little KA last year and despite not usually being too keen on car air fresheners, still love it!
A friend of mine had a Jelly Belly freshener and as soon as I got in his car I could smell it. I love the sweets and the freshener smelt as good as they taste, so I decided to go on the hunt for one. I'd never seen or heard of them before, but I came across them easily enough in Asda.
Jelly Belly famously make the jelly bean sweets, but they've also branched out to sell other items. The car air fresheners they produce are available as 2D cardboard or 3D plastic versions, and come in a few different scents, or should I say flavours? The ones I've seen include Juicy Pear, Tangerine and Blueberry. I opted for the latter.
To help you choose which scent, there's a little scratch and sniff panel on the front which is a useful idea. As for the difference between the 2D and 3D versions, the 2D just seemed ordinary and boring to me, hence why I opted for the jelly bean shaped 3D one.
These have a reasonable length hanger so you can wrap it over your rear-view mirror without it dangling down too long. I don't find it irritating and hardly even notice it's there now, except for the lovely sweetie smell when I get in the car!
So far it seems durable enough and although the scent isn't what it was when I bought it, I have had it a fair while so its lasting power seems reasonable enough to me. For the price, £3 was what I paid, I'm really pleased with it. It looks really funky and quirky, it smells sweet and reminds me of Jelly beans, and it hangs in my car without a problem.
This is something I would recommend and would make a cute little gift too as it comes in attractive packaging.
RRP Around £3-4.
