I've reviewed these products before, but as I've bought one for a gift, I will give my thoughts on this and make some comments on other reviews.
Magnetic tax disc holders have some mixed reviews on other sites, but this tax disc holder by Magoo stands out from the rest by a mile. Have a read on Amazon about the plain version of this holder and it is evident that these holders don't compare. I have purchased the other "leading brand" of magnetic holder before and eventually binned it. The other holder was made of very thin cardboard and would warp during the winter when it got damp. It would eventually come off and I would have to check it occasionally to make the back was still on.
I don't agree with the comments below about the expensive nature of this product. I wasted £4 on a cheap magnetic holder which had to be thrown out! This holder in comparison is ten times thicker and is made of much higher quality materials as the magnetic bond is noticeably stronger. It should last a lifetime. Looking though the Halfords tax disc holder range, they start at a few pounds for a static vinyl holder to £20+ for a Richbrook metal holder. So £7.99 for a novelty design which included next day delivery is very good indeed.
The Mad Cow holder is made of rubber material which is resistant to moisture and comes in two parts. Once your inside window is clean, attach the self-adhesive ring to the glass, insert your tax disc, then use the mad cow to hold the licence in place. The best thing is that it only takes a few seconds to swap your licence when it comes up for renewal. From the outside, the tax disc holder is very discreet and doesn't block your vision too much. The licence sits snugly and when lined up properly it hides the tatty perforations.
This holder has many advantages to others on the market. The static vinyl holders get tatty over the years and barely stick once you remove them for the first time. Many others use sticky pads which don't stick too well according to other comments. Richbrook charge about £4 for a spares kit! Above all, the Magoo holders have a fun design to cheer you up when you're sitting in a traffic queue!
To summarize; this tax disc holder is well made, will last a long time, has a cool design and I would recommend it.
The Magoo Mad Cow Magnetic Tax Disc Holder is an accessory I have had in my car for a number of months now. I placed the adhesive side of the black hoop directly onto my windscreen in the bottom left corner, and then the reverse side has a magnetic surfact which allows the Mad Cow cover to attach to it once a tax disc is in place. I think that the design is quite fun and would certainly appeal to cow lovers! The Magoo tax disc holders come in such a wide variety of designs, including animals, flags and bold coloured patterns. I think the range is fun and there is something for everyone really. A bit like car air fresheners the Magoo tax disc holders allow you to personalise the interior accessories to your car and cheer up your passengers!
The beauty of the magnetic tax disc holder is that they have an unlimited lifespan. I remember the old style of holders which had to be stuck on the windscreen after each disc was changed, but with the magnetic design it isn't necessary to replace them every 6-12 months. The Magoo tax disc holder is also quite compact and therefore doesn't cause problems visually - some of the old style holders were quite large, yet this design is only a little bit larger than a tax disc.
The Magoo Mad Cow magnetic tax disc holder was bought for me as a gift from a friend and I were quite surprised to see that they cost £7.99 at the moment on the Amazon website, with an RRP of £9.99. I think this is quite expensive indeed, and alternatives can be bought from places such as Halfords for a fraction of this price. I don't believe my friend bought The Magoo Mad Cow from Amazon, but I wouldn't recommend it at this price!
I had to laugh when I saw this tax disc holder. I must admit I'm a fan of cows, I collect them and there are maybe too many in the house already! This Mad Cow tax disc holder is made by a company called Magoo who do a range of magnetic style tax disc holders. I bought this on eBay last October to replace my ageing tax disc holder. I'm not sure if they are still on eBay, but you can search for the company and buy from their own website.
I think these magnetic tax disc holders are really superb; part of the disc attaches to the windscreen, and the design disc holds your tax disc in place. They are very easy to attach, it took me a few seconds to put it on. The instructions tell you to clean the inside windscreen which I done with some screen wash. All you do after that, is snap on the mad cow to hold the tax disc in place. I can't recommend these enough. From the outside, it has a clean profile and doesn't take up much room, so it won't block your vision of the road. The beauty of this design means that changing your tax disc is quite simple and the licence is safely secured.
