      Fun and useful!

Anybody that knows me knows that I am hugely untidy, so I wasn't too surprised when I received a BIN for christmas last year! I hadn't seen the Henry Car Bin before and it gave me quite a giggle when I opened it. The Henry Car Bin is designed to look like a Henry hoover and is designed for use in the car. * What is a 'Henry'? * I'm sure everybody knows, but for those who don't - Henry is a vacuum cleaner by British cleaning and maintenance equipment company Numatic. The first Henry hit the shelves in 1980 and has been a great success ever since with over 7 million being produced worldwide. Henry's have been known to be reliable and effective hoovers that are often used in workplaces, as well as homes. I have had my Henry for a good few years and he's still going strong! Henry hoovers are red and black coloured and are best known for their smiley faces which are printed on the front of them (with the hose for a nose). Henry also has a pink girlfriend called Hetty! * Look * The bin is cylinder shaped and mainly red in colour. It has the unmistakable happy Henry face printed on the front and 'Henry' written near the top of the bin. It also has velcro straps on the top which can be used to attach the bin to the back of the front seat headrests - very handy. * Size * The bin is about 11 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter, which is quite small for a regular bin but a good size for a car bin - you wouldn't want it any bulkier for use in the car. The bin is also collapsible - just squash it down and attach the straps to the velco tabs on the bottom of the bin to avoid it popping open. It's small enough to store under seats and in the glove box etc. * Price & Availability * My Henry Car Bin is from Marks & Spencer, but they are also available at many other retailers including Amazon.co.uk, Play.com, IWantOneOfThose.com and GettingPersonal.co.uk. Prices generally vary between £5.00 - £8.00. A very reasonable price in my opinion. It also comes packaged flat and in a box. * Overall * Henry is a full time passenger in my car, the only time he leaves is when I take him indoors to empty him (which is about once a week). He looks cute and I felt like he was a particularly appropriate gift as I already have a full sized Henry hoover and a Henry desktop cleaner! He is quite often attached the back of the seat that my daughter sits behind, as she is always eating in the car! The bin is made from a waterproof material and is easy to wipe clean, so sticky lollies and soggy bananas are not a problem. As I've already mentioned the size of the bin is just right - not huge, but big enough to fit plenty inside. The bin also seems durable as I've been using the it regularly for a year now and have had no problems with it. If your car is a mess and you're a fan of Henry then I definitely recommend the Henry Car Bin to you! As Christmas is coming up I'd say the Henry Car Bin would also make a good stocking filler/secret santa present as it is fun, novel (but also useful) and reasonably priced.

I'd be lost without my car tidy

I got this Henry Car Bin for Christmas last year, it was a stocking filler from my boyfriend which has proven to be a very useful gift. I love my car and try to keep it as clean as possible on the outside, but I don't particularly like cleaning the inside of it so anything which can help me keep it tidy is a good thing. The car bin is modelled on the Numatic Henry vacuum cleaners and comes in the traditional red and black, with Henry's instantly recognisable smiling face on it. I'm not exactly sure what material it is made from, but I would guess nylon as it is very similar to light weight rain jackets. It is a pop up bin which can be folded down to a smaller size when not in use to make storage easier. When popped up the bin is just under 30 cm in height and about 20 cm in diameter. in it's folded state it is roughly 3 cm tall but still has the same diameter. The bin has some straps which you can use for attaching it to various parts of your car, these have velcro tabs on them so you can either use the velcro to stick to the upholstery of the car or attach the straps together so that you can hook them over something. I push the straps around the posts on the headrest of my passenger seat so that Henry is in the back of the car. I find this to be the best spot to quickly throw rubbish such as receipts and sweet wrappers into it from the driver's seat. This means that instead of litter ending up in the ash tray, in the footwells or door bins it all goes into one place and I can just take it out and empty it into the wheelie bin when he starts getting full up. Should for some reason you want to pack your Henry car bin away, as mentioned he does fold up to quite a compact size for storage. Once you have squished it down there are some shorter velcro straps attached to the bottom of the bin on the inside these stick to velcro on the outside bottom and keep the bin in it's folded up state. It is then small enough to fit inside most glove boxes, or be placed under one of the front seats when not in use. I think the great thing about this bin is that it can be used in other places as well as in the car. It could could be used as a waste paper basket underneath a desk (although it might get full quite quickly) or in a kids' room to keep bits and bobs in. With Christmas fast approaching, I think the Henry car bin makes a great stocking filler or Secret Santa present at a reasonable £4.99 from play.com

          Novelty

Henry is normally a hoover it is true he is a red hoover with a happy face on him but guess what Henry is now a Car Bin as well he is branching out to other forms of dirt lol. I received my Henry Car bin for Christmas and actually got a Hetty one to match that is Henrys girlfriend for those of you who don't know. She looks like Henry but she is pink. This was a typical stocking filler present which has actually turned out quite useful though not for my car. The Henry car bin is suppost to go in your car. He pops up like one of those material washing baskets. Henry comes flat you then undo the fastening and he pops open to reveal his big smiley face. He also has a handle either side of his head which forms to handles so you can easily carry him around. On the bottom are 2 velcro pads. Now either the velcro I am suppost to stick to this was missing from both my Henry and Hetty or it does not come with any to stick in the car also he comes with no instructions of what to do with him. I understand its not heard he is a bin for the car but how you are suppost to make him stay still once in your car and stop the rubbish spilling out I have no idea. Henry is 100% polyester and so can be wiped clean but I really don't want to get him dirty not with rubbish anyway. He can hold 9 litres of rubbish in total or in my case 9 litres of make up and hair products. That's right Hery is not a rubbish holder in my house he is a make up tidy he holds my straightners, nail varnishes, eye shadows etc and sits next to Hetty who hold my hair dryer for me. You can use them for whatever you want basically but I would not recommnd using them for bin for the car because as I said earlier there is no way of getting them to stay up right in a moving car unless you weigh it down with something heavy. I give Henry 4 stars he looses one only because I can't use him in the car which is the purpose of the product I still like him though he keeps my make up tidy.
