Advantages: Visually appealing, decent longevity.

Disadvantages: Doesn't last as long as Jelly Belly ( but it is cheaper).

I have used a variety of air fresheners in cars over the years, many of which have been pine fragrances which have often reminded me of toilet cleaner, or sickly-sweet smelling floral fragrances which I have ended up thowing in the bin after not being able to stand their scent in my car.
The odd one or two I have purchased which have been more appealing, including the plug-in variety, I have found the scent has disappeared rather quickly and so therefore I had never been exactly enthusiastic about buying any at all.

That changed however, when I discovered Jelly Belly car air fresheners after really liking the one my daughter had in her car.
My daughter informed me that she was very impressed by the longevity of Jelly Belly air fresheners and so I bought one and since then have been happy to purchase them again and again. These gel air fresheners with their fruity fragrances I find to be far superior to those cardboard trees and smiley face air fresheners.
So when shoppping in my local Morrisons a couple of months back, I was all set to purchase another Jelly Belly air freshener for my car when I realised either Morrisons don't stock them (my previous purchases had been made at Asda) or they had none in stock at that particular time.
I was disappointed but then these Pongo Star Gel air fresheners caught my eye and I took a closer look.

Pongo Star Gel air fresheners look very similar to Jelly Belly air fresheners in that they are gel filled and not cardboard. The only difference was of course the shape.
They come in a variety of colours and fragrance and I removed a few from where they were displayed to see what was available. I was looking to see if they had anything similar to my favoured Jelly belly air fresheners, with an appealing fruity fragrance. There was a blue aqua scented star, a pink floral smelling star and then I saw black star with sparkling bits and underneath was the word 'Chill' which maybe is an odd word to describe a fragrance which is described as Autumn Fruits, but it did smell quite similar to my favourite cherry Jelly Belly and was exactly what I was looking for.
I also really liked the look of the black sparkling gel star as anything dark or gothic styled is far more to my liking than anything pink and floral.

Not only was it appealing in both looks and fragrance, these gel stars were priced at just £1.50 which was half the price I paid for Jelly Belly air freshener.
The gel star has a plastic hook attached to hang from your rear view mirror and as soon as I removed the star from its packaging and hung it in my car I could smell the appealing fruity fragrance making a subtle appearance.

I really liked this gel star. I was aware of the fragrance at all times in my car but it was not overbearing or overly strong. It reminded me very much of the Jelly Belly fragrances and so if you are a fan of those as I am, then you may like these Pongo gel stars too.
The only slight niggle I had is that I found the fragrance did not last as long as Jelly Belly, but I was pleased to get over a month of fragrance from my gel star before it began to disappear, which for £1.50 wasn't bad at all in my opinion.

I am happy to recommend Pongo Gel Stars for your car, they are a cheaper alternative to Jelly Belly and whilst they may not last as long, I think the price reflects this. I can't say I find all the fragrances appealing, but I do enjoy the black fruity 'chill' gel star and this is the one I personally go for.
I purchased mine in Morrisons but they are available in other supermarkets, garages and stores such as Wilkinsons, as well as being available online from Amazon and Ebay.

Summary: A lower-priced alternative to buying Jelly Belly air fresheners for your car.
