      Another great RNLI gift

I am still working my way through some of our lifeboat souvenirs - I hope you're not getting fed up yet as I have more to come! Today I want to tell you about the Magnetic Licence Holder costing a mere £2.50.

You'll find this one hanging on a hook in your local lifeboat shop. It is attached to a piece of thin cardboard which has all the instructions for use on the back together with clear diagrams showing the various stages of use.

To use the licence holder you need to remove it from the cardboard - obviously. Then, without taking the holder apart, remove the self adhesive backing paper and place the whole thing in position on the inside of the car windscreen. Use a soft, dry cloth to apply pressure around the edge so that it remains fixed to the glass.

Once you are happy that it is fixed on the glass you can then remove the cover plate by sliding it to one side. Apply more gentle pressure to the outer magnetic ring to make sure it is firmly fixed and check from the outside of the car that there are no air bubbles in it. If there are just use your cloth again and, with a bit of pressure, smooth out the bubbles.

Then you just place your tax disc in the centre of the magnetic ring, making sure it is facing outwards, and then replace the cover plate. When you need to change your tax disc just slide the cover plate to one side, remove the old one and insert the new one.

Naturally the licence holder is circular to fit the tax disc and the inside - viewed from inside the car - looks like a life ring in red and white with a picture of a lifeboat in the centre and the words 'Lifeboats saving lives since 1824' and the lifeboat flag.

Looking from the inside of our car this looks really smart and colourful and I have to admit that I often find myself stealing a glance at it as we drive along - it is worth mentioning that I don't drive so I am not taking any risks doing this! The holder stays firmly in place and the tax disc stays safely inside it.

There isn't much more to say about this simple, but effective piece of kit apart from the fact that by buying it you are contributing to the work of the RNLI and are indirectly helping to saves lives. I know it is only £2.50 but, trust me, every penny counts!

Incidentally I have answered the questions below as 'excellent' even though some of them don't actually apply - the licence holder isn't 'spacious' for a start! LOL!
