Having several motorbikes and a car in my possesion and not being able to use them all at once means a battery charger is very useful to own. I picked this Sealey 12V battery charger up for £22.99. There were cheaper chargers in the store however none looked as sturdy as this one with its bright red full metal case with a conveniant carry strap on the top.
The clips that attach to the battery itself are the only fragile bits of this charger being only thin wire. The power cord is normal thickness and connected well to the rear of the charger. This said the charger has survived a couple of harsh falls and it hasn't broken yet.
The main function that I was looking for in a charger was the fast charge feature which allows a battery to be fully charged within a couple of hours, and usually capable of starting the car within half an hour or so.
The charger is easily switched to trickle charge by sliding a switch which enables a battery to charge over a longer time which ends up resulting in better battery life.
There is a light on the front that lights up red or green to let you know when the battery is fully charged. There is a mechanism in the charger that prevents it from overcharging and damaging the battery, and also a light to let you know if you cross wire it to the battery and a mechanism to stop this damaging the charger.
The only other feature is the volt-meter which shows exactly how much charge is in the battery and allows you to tell if a battery is dead or not.
Overall this is another great item from Sealey and I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyoone needing such an item.
